'24 TN WR Amari Jefferson (Tennessee)

I hope he’s a Vol but I don’t know about y’all but it feels good not really caring all that much about who we land at the offensive skill positions. Heupel is going to make them all into stars regardless of the names on their jerseys. That’s how I feel anyway.
Agreed this would just sting due to him being an in-state kid we want and that he's a talented player in our backyard going to Bama if we do lose him

I hear ya. But talented instate kids going elsewhere isn’t that surprising. For some reason it happens a lot round here. But then UT signs top kids from other states so it all evens out.

Heupel will sign some other really talented out of state WR instead and turn him into a star. Would I prefer this kid sign with UT? Of course. Will I kick over a bucket of lightbulbs if he goes to Bama? Nah. We’ll be just fine regardless.

Bingo. As it should be.

he is talented. and will for some reason get a shot at NFL at Bammer just as he would at TN, just because. And Mel Kiper will slob all day long because of his blocking/playmaking....

But if he truuuly wants to play bball. This is a head scratcher.

Anyway, I wont lose any sleep over it.

I agree but in the long run you need to be able to get who you want from your backyard. One isn't going to sting entirely too much beside the fact that he would be going to Bama, and the staff has done great at landing guys in state we want so I'm not too worried about it either

so we don't lose top end talent to teams who could potentially stand in our way to win a championship (Bama, Georgia, Ohio State, USC, Oregon, ND, Clemson, etc). If we lose someone to Kentucky it's not a big deal but if we lose a guy that could be a very good player to a playoff team then it could be a minor blow

Bammer has fought, clawed, spit, cursed, and cheated their way to multiple NC's. Sold their souls to Beelzebub. Why would he not be infatuated with that midget.

We have 12 instate kids that’s already in the to 250 on rivals for 2025. Not sure about the other sites ranking for them. However, kind of like to know where we stand with the 2025 instate kids next cycle.
you should email vq pc. its best to ask AP percentages

So we get top talent from other states. If a kid who happens to live in TN goes elsewhere, you are not "losing" them. Just like we are in for Ross from Alabama or Mathews from Georgia.

Ross had to camp at Bama for them to be interested in him. They aren't pushing there hard yet. I think Mike was always really open to leaving the state

That does nothing to disprove my point.
It's not going to be common for us not going to have to really compete with Bama for the top players in Bama or Georgia for Georgia. That isn't something that will hold up year in and year out. I'm not saying we can't beat them out for a recruit but who have we actually gone in there and stolen a recruit from them in their home turf recently? They do a good job of getting who they want in their state outside of Peter Woods and Justice Haynes

Georgia has high ranked in state kids leave the state every year. They cannot keep them all. Alabama doesn't have a whole lot of in state blue chip players. If we are in on the best in the ENTIRE south, we are doing well. IN state is again, an outdated defunct philosophy.

I'll take the trade if it guarantees that we land Cameron Sparks next class.

So how good is this kid actually at baseball? Would there be any concern about him with the MLB draft next year?
Nevermind just checked his stats. He doesn’t even seem like a SEC level baseball prospect with those stats 🤷🏻‍♂️

I'd probably do some fact-checking, there.

It is perhaps irrelevant to your actual point, but while the state of Alabama isn't Georgia by any means, it has a lot more in-state talent than you are giving them credit for. Just this year, they have four 5* players and another 22 4* players.

That grossly outpaces some other southern states with equal or greater population sizes.

Tennessee has zero 5*s and 10*s.
Louisiana has zero 5* and 11 4*s.
North Carolina has zero 5*s, and 13 4*s.

Heck, California, despite having 8x the population of Alabama only has three 5*s and an additional 33 4*s.

Thanks for correcting me. Out of top 15 players in Bama (going by on3) they have 4 five stars. The Tide have two of those and 4 of the top 15 committed. Not exactly "owning their backyard." You know why? Saban does not give a rat's fanny where he gets his five stars. He just gets them.

Right, and that's why I said it probably isn't entirely relevant to the point you're trying to make, which seems to be that you go get the best talent no matter where you find it. I don't really disagree there. I just think the actual talent level of the state of Alabama is routinely dismissed/overlooked, especially for the population of the state. They've got some dudes down there and Saban doesn't get all the ones he wants, but he doesn't miss too often.

So, this made me think and look up draft picks. Maybe this year is an outlier. I don’t know. In the last 5 years, Alabama has had 27 players picked in the first two rounds. 2! were from the state of Alabama (Henry Ruggs and Quinnen Williams). It looks like they had several more before that. But many of Saban’s high draft picks have been from outside the state.
