So, this made me think and look up draft picks. Maybe this year is an outlier. I don’t know. In the last 5 years, Alabama has had 27 players picked in the first two rounds. 2! were from the state of Alabama (Henry Ruggs and Quinnen Williams). It looks like they had several more before that. But many of Saban’s high draft picks have been from outside the state.

Yes, not all of them come from Bama as many go out of state or to Auburn. And many more aren't eventual 1st or 2nd round picks but were still highly ranked recruits.

Daron Payne (Alabama) and Kerryon Johnson (Auburn) were top-2 round picks in 2018.

Marlon Davidson (Auburn) and Quinnen Williams (Alabama) in 2019.

Henry Ruggs III (Alabama) and Kadarius Toney (Florida) in 2021.

George Pickens (Georgia) in 2022.

There are several 3rd rounders in that span I didn't list, as well.

Amari Jefferson will visit Tennessee and Alabama again at the end of the month. It’s our belief this one is still open and really tight. The fact he is gonna see both again is a good sign for Tennessee as the Tide held the lead in the mid part of June.
