'24 TN WR Amari Jefferson (Tennessee)

Just *feels* like this has stabilized a bit for us now that we've secured him coming back one more time before announcing. Only visiting Bama that week was certainly on the table for a while. IMO this is the UT staff's last best chance to show him he's the priority Bama has made him.

IMO he would prefer to come here, but so far we've not shown him as much consistent love as Bama has. Knock it out of the park on the 28th and I think we can win this one.

I hate to break it to you but there are optics and there is what is really done.
They’re pictures of us visiting these High Schools at the time…. We even visited one school that hadn’t produced a div 1 prospect in several years…. The Tennessee Brand is stronger from inside the state outward…. It weakens the further you get away from campus…. It helped us get Arion Carter late last year while it hurt us in losing Sylvester smith to Auburn. Go Vols…. hope we finish this class out strong.

It is going to take funds and Bama has no issue with this. If both teams are equal then I think he comes here. This could go either way because we will not get in a bidding war but 100k is the minimum.
AJ cashes a big fat bama check then goes into professional baseball - that would be a fun plan B if he doesn’t play at UT!

Again, this kid wanting to play baseball - and the word 'Turd' dont make any sense.

If it is about baseball, then Tennersee makes too much sense. If its about da foosball, then making a deal with the collector of Souls makes sense.

Staff visits more high schools out of state than in state. Think about that for a minute.

In state star going to our biggest rival.

Perception alone is as close to a must get that’s left on our board.
There are no "must gets"... ever. No single recruit is going to break a class much less a roster or the program. The Vols are going to sign WRs who see the opportunity. They're going to have great portal guys who want to punch their ticket to the NFL. I hope Jefferson signs with the Vols but if he doesn't then someone just as good or better will fill the role he would have filled.

BTW, did it ruin the reputations of Auburn or Bama when Squirrel signed with UT? Gibson?

There is strong evidence that Saban really wanted Nico. Did they collapse when UT got him? And that in spite of the fact that they did NOT replace him in kind.

But it does explain one reason why the NCAA didn't investigate Bama baseball when there is proof of the cheating scandal and talk that it is much wider spread.

Plus, Jefferson would be better off with Heupel, in any event. He is an offensive coach. Sabey's specialty is DBs: and we saw how that matchup worked out last year! 🤣

The kids do care, especially the in-state ones.
If that were true then UGA couldn't recruit anyone. On3 labeled 40 GA HS players 4/5* last year. UGA signed 4 of them- #4, #8, #10, and #15. How has their image been harmed?

In the current class they have commits from the numbers 1, 12, 13, 16, 17, and 20 and are among the leaders for numbers 2, 5, 19, 32, and 34. Pretty obvious those kids do not care that UGA only got 4 highly rated guys in state last year.

Kids in that position understand that others are choosing what they believe to be the best option for them. UT has always had to recruit regionally and nationally. Most programs don't enjoy the instate loyalty they once did... and equally most programs are nowhere near as loyal to instate kids as they once were.

Thought about it ;) Saying visits to 49 states as a whole more than only Tennessee isn’t surprising. The staff is doing much better recruiting in state talent is apparent.[/QUOTE]

I’m actually surprised and impressed that’s we beat out UGA in this recruitment since Baylor is only 9 miles from the Georgia state line. Probably more UGA fans in Chattanooga than there are UT fans

I live in Chatt and the amount of Georgia fans and Bama fans around here is pretty prominent.

Chatt is definitely the middle of the southeast and is a melting pot of sorts. Mainly Tennessee fans but also several Georgia, Bama, etc fans as well
Pretty much. My neighbor to the left is a Georgia fan and my neighbor to the right is a Bama fan. Fall around here gets pretty interesting.
