'24 TN WR Amari Jefferson (Tennessee)

Amari Jefferson thread.

Take a look at what each of Nate Spillman and Jefferson did in their state championship games last December. Then decide with your own eyes.

I don't blame Heupel for getting him to come to Knoxville for the sake of his younger brother Edwin.
But acting like it's wrong to be critical of a kid who has literally not done a thing to make any of us think he will be a contributor is just being...blind.

I didn't say he was a bad kid, or a wasted scholarship. If Edwin turn into ALL-SEC then that more than pays for Nate's and his scholarship.

Most importantly he gets to play college football with his brother in the SEC. So Nate is certainly "valuable". He just not very good.

None of you can say a thing to make me think otherwise. He's not very good!

He was our lowest rated recruit in the 2023 signing class, so if we get any production out of him during his career, it's a win. You are talking about comparing his highlights to Amari Jefferson's highlights like it's an apples to apples comparison. The question is why are you insistent on dogging a kid that is obviously a project. No one is expecting him to break records here, but they also aren't trashing a kid before he's ever given an opportunity to "give his all".

By what you said of “
has literally not done a thing to make any of us think he will be a contributor is just being...blind.” You could argue thats the case with all of our signees from the 2023 class because they haven’t taken a snap yet here. Look at Tillman, he devloped quite nicely and he was a 2 star

In addition, NS was a 3 star. Some are talking like he wasn't ranked at all. I bet he was a higher rated player than McCallan Castles coming out of HS in different a different year of course, but I don't know. Now many on here think Castles is a potential starter this year. Just saying.....

What was his 40 speed upon arrival and what is it today?

What is his body fat % upon arrival and what is it today?

How many hours does he average in the weight room a day during off season?

What weight targets was he given by the staff and how well has he met them?

What % of voluntary reps by our QB’s and receivers has he participated in?

Has he exhibited a higher percentage of drops than the rest of the room in All organized and voluntary practice sessions?

He ain’t Squirrel, got it; but what other non-rotational receiver has exceeded his output?

We will stop here but could go on.

If you cannot intelligently address these issues you are for sure free to continue to demonstrate your freedom to apply your arrogant and condescending from afar observations and assessments of a player who has used up one of five years available to him to meet the expectations the staff has for him.

He was not the first nor the last non blue chip receiver to be signed by our staff with longer odds for noteworthy production.

Bottom line you do not project a lot of value add to the program. But so far he is not in a to date negative position as a player. Let’s contrast that with your position as a fan taking into account only the posts on this one player in a free public forum. Then we can deal with your body of work.

His value would plummet if he dropped passes or short armed a pass on purpose. Yet lots of folks feel free to trash players and coaches wearing the same colors while they are doing their best.

There is of course room for constructive criticism on these boards, but don’t even attempt to imply your comments in these threads can meet that standard.

We can all wait for next offending posts and discuss them, no need to project them nor your net value add at the completion of Your BIG ORANGE FANDOM based on any segment of your efforts to date.

Your posts just like his drops and other shortcomings are the measurables. On the field or on the boards, facts are facts. Like it or not free shots at prospects or players are out there to see by friends, family, and fans, all fans.

How would you feel if people were going out of their way -- and with no practical reason at all -- to dog your brother? You're insulting Edwin, too, when you do this stupid stuff. Just stop it. You're not a truth warrior 🙄, you're being an ass and insulting both brothers. GBO! If you can't grasp what @bigl3327 explained, at least understand this.

I never felt that way about Herring. Wasn’t he a high 3 star with some legit offers?

Nate was lower ranked than our usual recruits but I bet he will help on special teams at the least
that's fair. Elijah was ranked higher than Nate, but we also took Nate in a much better class when we are theoretically less desperate than we were when we took Elijah.

I’m confused as to what BS I said about the offense. All I did was say a simple stat 😂
you said "only 5" like it was a negative. I have pointed out multiple times that "only 5" isn't "only 5". 5 is right there with the best passing offense in the nation. people are always arguing that we don't use our WR's like other schools do, and its simply false.

I have seen teams rotate to many and have no rythmn to what they are doing. I see mainly using 4-5 receivers but maybe try to give a few more a lot of reps when we are way ahead. You need good rythmn and effectiveness and sometimes it’s hard to rotate 7-8 receivers and keep your good consistent rythmn. Some of our previous coaches did that very thing. How quickly we forget. GBO!

we also don't average a ton of plays on most of our drives. Against Bama our drives averaged LESS than 5 plays. How many substitutions are we supposed to make? surely our WRs can run less than 5 plays in a row before needing to come out.
