A while back UT "took" a 3* WR from Texas to help them get a 4* RB ranked the 6th best RB in the country and 8th best player in a strong Texas HSFB class.

That RB was Lennon Creer who ended up being pretty awful and slow. The WR was Denarius Moore.

The moral of the story... is sometimes its not what you think.

That sounds reasonable I wondered myself if they think he might be able to play another position.Basically get him on the team lets the athletic ability sort itself out.If they cut him loose etc down the road that could be a bad look locally so I assume theirs a plan for taking him.

He’s definitely athletic enough to play in the secondary……

It doesn't really matter in regards to you, because you can't grasp football talent.

You won't even attempt to.

Basically your opinion is based off nothing and you arguing to protect it wastes your life to be spent somewhere else.

You have not a clue what makes either player good enough or not.

My first caution flag of this staff is promoting Pope to WR coach vs hiring a proven commodity. WR should be an easy position to fill for us and we can’t afford any risk at this point in the program. Swain said they talked to David Johnson and he wants to come here so o sure hope it wasn’t due to money. He said this smells of a UCF hire so he’s concerned as well.

It can always work out and I hope it does. I just don’t understand taking a risk at this point.

How do you know Johnson would have been a good fit? Just because you assume he is a better WR coach doesn’t mean he would just fit in. Pope has been getting some praise from current and former players.

Just because players love a coach doesn’t make him good. They don’t know what they don’t know. Heck, the TEs liked Osevet even though they were teaching him. I don’t know that DJ would be a good fit but I have to assume he would. He’s a great WR coach. Great at Memphis, great while he was here. Great recruiter and a good man from all accounts (he ran from Pruitt’s BS). Bottom line, it’s my opinion

I think I heard someone mention that he grew from 6ft 1inch at the end of the year to over 6ft 3inches already this spring.

Perhaps he'll continue to grow and develop this Sr. year.

Julian Nixon and Miles Campbell have that covered, Ethan Davis following that. With Fant and Warren coming back I'm not overly worried about TE. If this kid can transition to a DB at 6'3" 195-205 that's a weapon.

Pretty sure when it’s all said and done, he’s gonna end up on defense in some capacity.

Don’t want to dismiss the kid - as this past year our top three likely nfl bound receivers were at one point “only” three stars - but it just feels like we’re fishing in different waters now.

Tate, Rogers, Kasper, etc…. We’re no longer recruiting developmental type players. We’re recruiting game changers.
