I agree, not saying that at allDon’t think there’s any indication the staff is trying to build a program on 2-3 stars alone. We had 7-8 4* last class and a couple of really underrated 3*, specifically White, Nimrod, and Phillips. We already have a 4* commit in this class and are in on plenty of others. And, again, both ratings and offers are even more unreliable than before, when they were already a crapshoot, because of Covid.
A while back UT "took" a 3* WR from Texas to help them get a 4* RB ranked the 6th best RB in the country and 8th best player in a strong Texas HSFB class. What happens when we don’t get his brother? Lol
Not sure where it came from but Hubbs mentioned on the Power Hour that Spillman could end up in the secondary?
He’s definitely athletic enough to play in the secondary……That sounds reasonable I wondered myself if they think he might be able to play another position.Basically get him on the team lets the athletic ability sort itself out.If they cut him loose etc down the road that could be a bad look locally so I assume theirs a plan for taking him.

I’m fine with a project here and there, especially if he has upside and can get his brother (top 100 player). Just can’t recruit too many. You can’t rely on finding a Tillman every year.
My first caution flag of this staff is promoting Pope to WR coach vs hiring a proven commodity. WR should be an easy position to fill for us and we can’t afford any risk at this point in the program. Swain said they talked to David Johnson and he wants to come here so o sure hope it wasn’t due to money. He said this smells of a UCF hire so he’s concerned as well.
It can always work out and I hope it does. I just don’t understand taking a risk at this point.
How do you know Johnson would have been a good fit? Just because you assume he is a better WR coach doesn’t mean he would just fit in. Pope has been getting some praise from current and former players.
I think I heard someone mention that he grew from 6ft 1inch at the end of the year to over 6ft 3inches already this spring.Several have made it known they aren't happy with Spillman's commitment.
But this kid is put together. He definitely passes the eye test. Gonna trust the staff on this one.
Julian Nixon and Miles Campbell have that covered, Ethan Davis following that. With Fant and Warren coming back I'm not overly worried about TE. If this kid can transition to a DB at 6'3" 195-205 that's a weapon. At 6’3 and around 200 lbs is it possible he adds 30-40 more pounds and is used as a flex TE. A frame like that with above average TE speed is a matchup nightmare for a LB.
