‘23 TN WR Nathan Spillman (Tennessee)

Pretty sure when it’s all said and done, he’s gonna end up on defense in some capacity.

Don’t want to dismiss the kid - as this past year our top three likely nfl bound receivers were at one point “only” three stars - but it just feels like we’re fishing in different waters now.

Tate, Rogers, Kasper, etc…. We’re no longer recruiting developmental type players. We’re recruiting game changers.

True, but the likelihood of signing 4 bigtime guys in one class is pretty small. I think the best case is we get 2 off your list, 1 developmental guy like Spillman, and the fastest water bug you can get to round out your class. Until you reach machine recruiting status, like Bama, you will be taking some developmental prospects. It looks like we are going to be taking less and less of those now, thankfully, but you will still have a few.

I’m not trying to hate on this kid, but we seem to be in on a lot more elite guys at his position. Seems like he might not end up here if we hit on some of these guys. Would we pass on higher rated guys to secure his brother for the next class?

We're taking him no matter what, we want his younger brother who is a top 100 player next year

How many safeties are we gonna take? Slaughter, luttrell, Myers, and this guy

This class is going to need quite a few DBs. We only signed 3 this year, one of which being Williams who's already a Jr. Labruzza, Flowers, Tank all going to be gone, with McDonald and Slaughter being Seniors. Not sure if either is a true safety. Thomas might the only true safety on the team next year. I'd say 3 or 4 isn't out of the question.

BOOM!
Because this cat is going to have a big year!!

@allvolrecruiting , rumors are this kid just clocked a 4.38 !!!

Can you verify??
One of the pools of talent that a good recruiter can find that the recruiting sites and top programs often miss is small school players. Recruiting sites are hesitant to rate them high because of competition. Doesn't look like either side has looked back after his commit.

Seldon says hello.

I mean this kid does have 1 P5 offer. Edwin, a year behind him, has 19...at the exact same school. Kills that theory.

I think this kid will be a good WR at the next level. Speaking Lipscomb Academy...Dilfer has turned them into a powerhouse relatively quickly. Their first two games this fall are @Milton(GA) and @Thompson (AL).....im pretty sure the Thompson game will be on ESPN.

Not altogether about 1 player. And lack of competition does introduce risks for the recruiting sites. I don't even dispute that. Since they have no intentions of trying to award every deserving player 4/5*... I would avoid guys like this too if I were in their shoes.

All I know about him is his highlight video. That's not enough since no one puts drops and bad plays in their highlight videos. But his highlight videos are pretty impressive. He makes some really nice plays on the ball.

PS- considering Seldon's 100 time and size... he may be underrated at 4*.

All good points.

Looking at Spillman's tape...he just runs past everybody. He's catching bombs all day.

He gets to face-off against a 5 star CB opening week. a 5 star that has a ton defensive talent with him.
If Nate can have a good game....you better believe they'll have to evaluate him more

Pretty sure he meant 40 time lol
I was talking with a buddy from college who has been coaching in middle Tn for 10 years now.
He said Nate Spillman is the most underrated recruit in the state.

He said was the fastest player at LA and that no one could run with him in any game last season, and then said he consistently runs 4.4. You're much closer so i thought id ask

Had no idea these kids originally from Sierra Leonne....

"Regardless of where Edwin goes, the accomplishments that the two brothers from Sierra Leone have already achieved, is something no one will ever be able to take away from them.

“Me and Nathan are just two kids from Africa,” Edwin said. “You’d probably never think we would get offers. We didn’t even know what that stuff was a few years back. Now, with the Lord, everybody is starting to notice and starting to recognize us.”

Not to mention this kid looks physically ready for college.
