‘23 TN WR Nathan Spillman (Tennessee)

Does anyone know how he's doing on defense this season?

Don't know if he's played any on defense this year, but he has recorded no defensive stats and is only listed as a WR on Lipscomb's roster. He did have his best outing of the year on offense yesterday, however, with 5 receptions for 75 yards and a TD.

We’re obviously a national brand and need to recruit throughout the country, but our return to prominence coinciding with the population boom in Middle Tennessee is pretty sweet. Going to be more and more talent coming out of that area, and Knoxville/Chatty for that matter. Helps to not have to rely on Georgia kids so much.

So.
There's more talent in Georgia than 20 years ago.
Same for Tennessee.
Alabama.
North Carolina.

We could get 1/2 our class from Georgia and UGA not bat an eye...

If we sign some really talented kids with State pride then GREAT, but there's nothing wrong with relying on the state of Georgia.
So does Alabama, Clemson and many other schools.

There's more talent in general, as you allude. Which means there's simply more to spread around and winning is more about development and X's and O's now. That bodes well for Tennessee.

its a struggle for anyone when you're either getting double teamed or a 5 star like tony mitchell is guarding you in high school
Tony Mitchell is a safety linebacker type.

If you watched that game you'd know the he had nothing to do with Nate not having an impact.

Only played about a quarter and a half. 3/4 nice receptions with one long TD. He’s got good hands and speed.

Great to hear. There have been a number of guys who became good college players, but weren’t utilized in high school for whatever reason. Heupel & co. must see something on their own evaluations that they can utilize in this offense.

I could see him used on some deep shots but he's still very raw it seems like. Would like to see him produce more against the level of comp he has played since the Milton/Thompson games

No question he's raw, but the athletic ability is there. LA is loaded as well and they do a great job of spreading the wealth. I don't think is recruitment is just a "hope we get his brother" thing.

I do think it's that, and I'm fine with it.
His brother is a really good LB.

Honestly....it seems that one of the downside to our offense is that they don't rotate on offense nearly enough.
Keyton did not have one catch last night.
Tillman was back. Okay cool, but Keyton was crucial! Big catches in the Florida game and Bama...

So if a guy doesn't really develop then fine, because they play a lot of people anyway.

Keyton played plenty. We just took what Kentucky gave us last night and Hendon missed on a few passes, but Keyton also had a drop.
