To all of you quitters

I can only imagine what the game thread looked like in the first quarter.
I’m with you. Was busy doing some stuff and only got to the TV in the 2nd qtr. I’m sure the usual losers were going nuts and I never saw the thread. Not going to bother reading it because I’ve heard it before. Some folks forget the game is 4 quarters. And the bottom line is did they get the job done. Yes they did.

The first 5 minutes were pretty ugly for sure and I might have uttered one or two expletives listening to it. But those first 14 pts were gifts and we really never struggled moving the ball. Just had to stop the turnovers and silly penalties. Thought it was Nico’s best game to date.

Let’s weigh the facts:

- playoff berth on the line
- past history in these type games (16 SC, 16 Vandy, 22 SC)
- stunned in the 1st 15 seconds/KO return TD
- Followed up with a 1st drive Sampson fumble (stop me if you’ve seen this one before)
- Down 14-0 in mere minutes to a team that already beat Bama, and gave Texas all they wanted in Nashville
- We aren’t a good road team
- Team looks listless and shell shocked

*** Conclusion: you are a total loser, a negavol, embarrassed yourself, and the university, probably a drunken redneck, and should probably find another team to root for —— if you got a little jumpy, went into panic mode, and let your frustrations show (on a game thread designed for that sole purpose.)

There were several posts much worse than what you’re describing

So there were some people making some dumb as hell posts

Again….shocker:

I uttered more than that while watching. But I wasn’t ready to fire the coaches, pull scholarships, etc. With this team, I always feel like they are in it…at least that early.

Huge difference between venting and calling for Heupel and Nico’s resignation on a .. 10-2 season. A lot of uneducated and emotional people in this forum who don’t remember the last 20 years.

The performance today would have got us a good old fashioned butt whipping out of the first round of the playoffs. Like it or not, we just don’t look good.
Sigh.

So...no accounting for us facing adversity and totally coming back and completely whipping ass? You know at one point we had outscored them 33 to 3, right? After falling behind 14-0.

And that giving up a kick return for a TD, while not desirable, does not really predict how their offense is going to play (hint: IT SUUUUCCCCCKKKKEED!. Or more accurately, our defense was up to its usual high standard).

And that as much as I love him, Dylan unfortunately fumbles. A lot. And that hurt us.

In short, anyone who thinks an artificial 14-0 lead based on an (unlikely) KR TD and a fumble on our own 20 is necessarily a predictor of the rest of the game, does not understand football or has not watched it enough and actually paid attention.

Furthermore, positing that since we gave up a KR for a TD and an early fumble deep in our own territory happened this week, it likely will happen again, also does not reflect an understanding of the game. Hint: Both of those items are pretty rare! Let alone that they happen within 3 plays of each other!

If your point is "we will probably **** something up", then you missed that our biggest problem all year has been a slow start by our offense. Other than the regrettable fumble, that did not happen this game. 24 first half points is by far our best performance this year against an SEC team that has actually won SEC games (i.e., MSU does not count).

You are kind of like a friend I have. Anytime the breaks go against UT early in the game, he gives up. He gave up against Florida early second quarter. He gave up against Vandy 4 plays in! I laughed at him today.

Relax. We will do just fine in the playoffs.
