To all of you quitters

Thank you I can’t stand the people who act like the game is over after 1Q… especially when it was 2 flukey type plays to give them the lead… won me some money taking Tn ML when we were down 14 though lol…

And fans are gonna be fans. Hard to clap and cheer for your team when they come out as flat as they did that first quarter. Did anyone leave the stadium? Change colors? Turn off the TV?

NOPE!

I like VOL fans who vent and show passion. Seems some of that filtered over to the players.
Absolutely this!

Big difference in quitting on the team and being pissed.
Damn right I was PISSED after the first five minutes, and YES, I am a TRUE FAN!!!!!

Even I who am very vocal when things are looking ****** stayed pretty calm. I mean it’s Vandy and our coach isn’t Butch Jones lol

That’s a good point. I was having issues with the performance, because there was zero excuse for coming out like we did. The team seemed asleep at the wheel or disinterested, take your pick. But credit to the team and the coaches, they responded well and did what they had to do to win it.

However, that kind of performance will get you sunk in the playoffs and against most teams that have a pulse. Especially this time of year.

Many of us bleed orange and have for decades. When we see our Vols come out and play like they did the first 5 minutes, we are wondering if we get that momentum back or do we continue to shoot ourselves in the foot with a game that had everything on the line for the season. Fortunately we woke up and started playing some football.

I agree that the team responded and played one of their best games but if we had been playing a top 15 team, we might not have been able to overcome that deficit.
I believe they said that Tennessee ranks in the 120's of all teams when it comes to penalties. That shows lack of discipline and its up to the coaches to correct it.

Now lets get healthy then play smart in the playoffs. I believe we have the talent to take it all the way but it just depends on our mindset and focus.

What does talking negative have to do with enjoying a win?
I would have trouble enjoying a win if I knew I made a fool out of myself. We all get frustrated when things are going bad, but we cross the line when we personally insult the players and scream for coaches to be fired. This coaching staff has done an extraordinary job considering where the program was when they took over. They aren't perfect, but I think it's beyond ridiculous to scream for their jobs when they aren't.

This team has morphed into a "slow-starter but gonna get you later" kind of team. It's not for the faint of heart but it is how they have performed nearly all season.
Nico threw some bad balls early, but got himself right down the stretch with good games by Thornton, Brazzell, and Matthews.

How many of you are new here? For basically the past 2 decades, our team would fold almost every time at the first hint of adversity. It is hard as a fan to break that expectation when it has been beaten into us year after year. It is good to have a team that won't quit. It is good to have a team with heart. Don't worry, the fan base will remember how to win. It has been a rough quarter century.
