To anyone who thinks or believes that UT has a chance of making the tourney....

I really don't understand the people who think we won't make the tourney. I think if we win either at KY or FL and win the ones at home and don't go one and done in the SEC tourney we get in as a 9 or 10 seed. I know the conference is way down, but if you look at all the SOS ratings we are consistently in the top 3 and the Selection Committee does take that highly into affect when selecting.

I think a win at Rupp tomorrow would be huge, not only would it help us in getting closer to the SEC East champion, it would be a huge confidence booster. Rupp is one of the hardest places to play at the country and a win would make these guys feel like they could win anywhere. All it takes is one good game to build confidence and forget about the past few weeks.

Its pretty simple. Some of us don't think we will win at UK or at FL or at USCe. In that case we are no longer in on our own merits but are only in relative to the rest of the potential field. That introduces uncertainty.

This team is so inconsistent it's not unthinkable for them to put it together for one game on the road and pick up a win, even if it is at Rupp.

If we win the two home games and lose the three away games, with one win in the SEC tourny, that still gives us 19 wins. That will probably get us in,with our strength of schedule. IMO

That is what i've been trying to say. If you look at our body of work over the past (I believe) 15 games were 7-8, could be wrong, I dunno? Anyway, I do totally agree with this comment. UT, is a bubble team if they lose all 3 road games. Now if they can pull out at least one of them, then who knows.

When I made that statement, which was two weeks ago, we had just lost to Auburn I believe, I knew then that we had alot of work to do, mainly because we still had road games at our biggest opponents; FLA, UK, and USC.

It's alot to ask a young team like this to travel on the road in the SEC and get those wins. With that said, those home losses to Memphis, Gonzaga, and LSU are the games/losses that keep us out of the tourney. I believe if we win 2 of 3 of those at home and slipped up on the road against FLA, UK, and USC then I would w/o question believe we would be in the tourney. To me the SOS really doesn't serve us any good now? IMO

Of course with that said, IMO if we win at least on of those road games and both home games, we will be in the tourney, regardless of how we do in the first round of the tourney. Although I would feel better with a first round win!

People seem to get ripped off all the time with tourny bids. We lose all the road games an win our home games, with a 1 n' done in the SECT.....it's a toss up. Do they deserve to? Probably. Is it an automatic? Not at all. Stranger things have happened.

UT should make the tourny easy with a couple of more wins, but I'm worried about getting past the second round in the NCAAs.

Easy? I don't think so....chances are we're looking at not only losses but rippings now at UF and SC, and don't think for a second that either home games left are definite wins.

UT hardly ever shows up at the SECT, so do you magically think THIS year of all years it's going to happen? Doubt it, so it's likely 1 and done.

I say the best we can hope for is 18-13, meaning we win our 2 home games, and there's no way that we can say that is we're in "easy". I'm not sure 18-13 gets us in and I can assure you 17-14 won't.

Second round? If we even get in, we'll be a 9+ seed, and will get knocked out in day 1.

Well as of right now Lunardi has us playing in a 7-10 match-up vs Davidson, not sure if I could stomach watching what a healthy Steph Curry would do to us...

Could get ugly. But hey, on the flipside, shutting Curry down pretty much guarantees a win for us in that game.

There's ZERO chance of us missing the tourney barring a historic collapse.

However, playing the way we've played the past two games virtually guarantees that we'll be one and done.

Listen I know there are a confident few of you out there who love UT basketball so much (and with good reason) that you would still believe that this team has a shot, albeit a very long one, I want you to think again before you kid yourself anymore!!!!!

Seriously, there is no way the panel would invite this team to the tourney? The league is way down this year, and wins against Georgetown and Siena doesn't look as impressive as they did 11 games ago. Tennessee needed that win against Gonzaga at home...couldn't get: They needed that win on the road against Auburn...couldn't get it: They needed that win at home against LSU....couldn't get it. If we win those three, the pressure isn't as intense as it is now. The kids are too young to handle pressure. If they win those three, confidence is high, they have a strong record...17-5....and they could afford to drop games on the road. Now, they really, really, really need to beat Florida...ON THE ROAD; they need to beat USC....ON THE ROAD; they need to beat Kentucky....ON THE ROAD; WORST OF ALL THESE TEAMS ARE FOAMING AT THE MOUTH TO KICK OUR TEETH IN!!!!

Need I say more?

HI HATER! :wavey:

Do I have to explain every thing?

If you think Tennessee fans should be used to getting bounced from the NCAA tourney on the first day after making it deeper than that for three consecutive years, then yes, I would like for you to explain why.

During the 2002-03 season, Alabama went to the NCAA tournament with a 17-11 (7-9) record. Their selection was based upon RPI ranking and difficulty of schedule.

Based upon Tennessee's current schedule strength of #2 and RPI ranking of #26, I think they are in. However, a complete collapse of losing all of the final 3 games plus SEC tourney game would surely knock them out. I don't think they'll lose all 4 games.

I go to the University of Kentucky and have always been a Tennessee fan, I remember my first email account was tonyharris14@yahoo.com lol.

The squad is so talented but they are just so hit and miss this season. Almost every game is televised up here on Raycom sports and I watch everytime there on (however i did miss last nights game).

There are countless times where they do something to get me stoked and I think they are pullin together and then they just completely fold. This team is just, and I cannot stress this enough, HORRENDOUS at the charity stripe. I can't tell you how many F bombs I drop watching some of these games.

I went to the game at Rupp saturday and was sporting my Orange and White. I was completely humiliated walking out of that place. They had a glimmer of hope cutting the lead down to four, then with like thirty secons left they give up a three and a steal which luckily the shot was blocked or it would have been nine.

There were a few orange shirts scattered around and we all had the same silly look on our faces, it was so bad that the kentucky fans did not even insult us.

I know I still have hope that this team can make the tournament but I don't know if they can pull it off. Beating Florida in the swamp would be a quality win and then they could sweep Carolina thursday at there place would be another quality win. Compared to the rest of the SEC besides LSU, I think Tennessee and KY make the best cases to make the tournament.

If not, we can always win the SEC tournament.

Lets go VOLS

I am pretty sure they are in. If they can make it out of the first round remains to be seen. I knew they were young and did not have alot of time playing together going into the year. I expected the slow start but really thought they would have found their stride by now.
