To hell with tee!

The most important part here is that Tee's comment was posted on the official USC website-not a random hot mike in the privacy of a room that no one was suppose to hear. It was tapped in a room for dissemination to the public, and the broadcast publicly. Such a comment about any recruit in an area being taped for later public purposes is totally unprofessional. Why he would even make that remark about a recruit signing should give anyone pause at the intentions of the person making the remark.

Well. . .you could step back and let God be his judge if you think it borders on being an unpardonable sin.

I think the whole ballyhoo being made of this is foolish. Now, if Tee had launched an SS-18 Satan against my house, I'd be more inclined to have some hate for him. And say ugly things about him. However, far as I know he doesn't have access to Soviet missiles or nuclear weaponry. So, I'm like, "Hey Shirley, these corn flour biscuits are pretty good. The sage and garlic laced eggs aren't bad either. How 'bout another Tennessee Pride sausage patty?" And she's like, "Get it yourself. You haven't given my patty any joy for two weeks now." So you see, some things are important and some things aren't worth raising your blood pressure over. :hi:

anybody ever consider the possibility he might turn out to be right? Crompton comes to mind.

You must not know the rules....only VN posters can rip UT players for not living up to their expectations. Outsiders (even NC winning QB's) aren't allowed to make such statements.

That could be a Barton Fink screenplay: "Gravy Biscuits and Broken Sex: The Life of A Mind".

Many more people agree with me than you as is evident by the likes. And not sure why you're being such an azz hole to me. It's not like I went out on national TV and dissed the hell out of our top incoming recruit or anything

Because you are a young knucklehead. By advocating a sense of perspective, he's trying to help you not become an old knucklehead.

Wonder what most of Tamaurice's fan base would be saying had Stoerner not fumbled that football?

They'd say that - unlike some QBs - he beat FL. That he did it coming off the bench in his JR year, had the same winning percentage as another QB and he didn't choke when it mattered, delivered the 1st NC in 50 years.

Oh, and that some...fans...are vitiating & childish. Perhaps even bitter that a black QB with no NFL pedigree got it done, no excuses.

Least, I think that's what they'd say...

Really? You want to play the race card on THIS?

Like most national champs, UT had a couple of bounces that year. Also like many NC's during my lifetime they may not have been the "best" team in the country. Tee was a very good QB. He wasn't the best QB of his decade at UT... and not even 2nd best.

That said, those here making a big deal about what he said are acting pretty ridiculous. So what if he really does think Hurd is soft? Will that have any bearing at all on Hurd's toughness or lack thereof?

And this is a guy that fans loved, won a championship, and had a street named after him.

..... acting like an ass about a player that wound up signing with his alma mater to the point that his University/employer had to embarrassingly issue a public apology.

I'm retired and arthritic. Apart from ... slowly ... church, family, gardening, woodworking, tinkering with my sports car, trout fishing, family, & etc., all I do is surf NCAA sports and sites related to all my interests. My computer stays on all day and I've got my trusty Droid in my pocket. I bet I'm on line twice as much as most.

That said, I cannot ever remember anyone on any site I've ever been to pulling a stunt like this.

Mr. Martin pulled himself out of the hell of poverty and slum gangs through football. As a high schooler he heard the gunshot that killed his brother. He was determined NOT to live that life. He came to Tennessee, patiently waited his turn behind Manning, and LED OUR TEAM TO A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. He was not a great QB, he WAS the RIGHT QB for a team not loaded with stars, it was loaded with team players. Along the way Tee set the NCAA Record for Consecutive Passes Completed at USCe.
No, Tee wasn't a great QB, but he was much better than average.

As I said before, after he tried other things, he hung around Knoxville trying to get on staff to start a CFB coaching carrer but UK picked him up. Then USC. And, on signing day, in his own office, while discussing recruits from all over the nation, he comments on one who PLAYED IN ONLY ONE GAME his senior year, and that comment is, .... now get this ... "he's soft".

Well dang it! He is! Jalen Hurd IS soft! He ain't had pads on for most of this whole year! He's rehabbing fer ... ah.

Anyway, this hive of hornets takes offense at the evaluation of a junior grade professional to others he works with in his own office that happens to get caught on an open mike. And he gives the correct evaluation. If Jalen had been an out of state recruit all I'd have heard is how "he's injured, we don't want him" like the kid from Carolina last year who wound up not enrolling.

Skimmed through most of this dissertation, but the part 'And he gives the correct evaluation', so you believe Hurd is soft and terrible?

It was Tee. Vol74 said that Jalen and his family knew it was Tee. Come on. Why exactly did you include the link. In no way disproves what everyone believes/knows.... Tee Martin made the comment.

I agree, it’s got to be Tee or we have wasted two days and 18 pages worth of comments...lol

OK. Tee's going to the realm of Hades because we all Hurd him defiling not just Jalen but the whole Vol herd.
Yes siree, he's headed for hail for sure. Just remember you heard it here first.

Nobody said he's going to hell. Just that it was a real prick thing to say and made him sound like a scorned 10 year old who didn't get what he wanted for Christmas. That's all.

For some, you add this little dust up to him showing up his alma mater last year when Butch wanted reached out to him immediately to be a part of his staff, and you get some of the reaction seem on this board.

Come on, man. Laugh a little, it's good for the soul. This Tee thing just isn't worth a 10th of the grief you're making it out to be. Nobody died from anything he did or said. The cool thing would be for Jalen to play like we believe he can and GASP! win the Heisman!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Squirrel away the first Heisman by a Vol!!!

and Casey Clausen beat UF twice on the road. Check Tee's stats from the UF game before you want to make the claim "he beat FL"

or how about his stats against Auburn from '98? Take away the South Carolina game (they won one game that year) and Tee's stats were putrid.

Why the "unlike some QB's"? He was sacked on every play in 1999 at Florida or we would would have won that game. The team in 1999 lost to unranked Arkansas or we would have played for another national title. Is that choking? Nine players were drafted off the 1999 team and seven in the first two rounds.

Tebow was putrid stat-wise as a QB, especially as a Bronco. But he had an "IT" factor. He simply won games. Tee led his team, he could run when he had to, he wasn't exactly easy to haul to the ground a lot of the time. He did the little things that resulted in his team winning. He simply got the job done. It might not have been certified as masterful, beautiful, or anything of historic note, but he got the job done. Kind of like the women crews that built and flew planes to delivery points during WWII. Japanese-American and Negro squads that went behind enemy lines to remove or hold onto strategic assets in WWII. Afterward, each group was marginalized and forgotten, even disparaged. But because they got the job done, the allies emerged as victors. Some QBs like Tee are the same way. Bart Starr was nowhere close to being like Unitas, Title, or Staubach, but he got the job done. Their contributions are marginalized and forgotten, even disparaged, but they got the job done. Typically, such heroes are the first to be damned if they overstep some societal boundary whether intentionally or unintentionally. Welcome to the world of finicky, egoistical, judgmental, and narrow-minded humanity, Tee, welcome. Despite venom, Tee, remember you're not the only one who endures spite. Or as Elvis said:
