To hell with tee!

All the bashers are the ones that have yet to witness Tennessee as a winner and a power to respect. Tee will always be my hero.

With ya MFL. That whole team was special.

I'll always remember them for their great accomplishment and the joy they brought Volnation. No matter what they do the rest of their lives nobody can take that away.

Just to beat "someone" to the punch...yes that includes Travis Henry.

I wonder what the average age of the "Tee haters" is? I'm guessing they're in their 20's. Given that 1998 was 16 years ago they probably only know UT as a team with a great history but they've never really seen it.

It is hard to not like some of the recent history with Tee, but, they do not override what he did here, how he did it, and who he was while doing it. He represented the university very well.

Until he literally says fu to UT, I'll let what he says go in one ear and out the other.

I think the Tee haters also have an IQ in that range

VFL definition,Peyton Manning, and former players who stay connected and give back. I've accepted the fact that some former Vols have chosen not to be VFL and it doesn't bother me one bit!

Why would Tee give his well earned money back to UT? He is paid by USC wouldnt that be a little dumb to give money back.
And when Tee wasnt coaching he would often come back and work with Fulmer.

Failing to see the issue here...the guy didn't call a press conference he was venting and caught on a hot mic

a QB who won us a NC, who also would rather work with a coach who quit on us, talked smack about our top recruit we have had since Eric Berry and you dont see a problem with that?

c'mon man. saying to hell with tee is one most ugly post you've ever seen. damn, you must not spend a lot of time on message boards. Look, you and I have something major in common. we both love the vols (obviously or we wouldn't spend a bunch of time on a vol message board). No sense in criticizing one another. But people should be able to post their opinion without getting blasted by other vol fans. Which is all I did. And by the way...many other posters on here share the same opinion as myself.

I'm retired and arthritic. Apart from ... slowly ... church, family, gardening, woodworking, tinkering with my sports car, trout fishing, family, & etc., all I do is surf NCAA sports and sites related to all my interests. My computer stays on all day and I've got my trusty Droid in my pocket. I bet I'm on line twice as much as most.

That said, I cannot ever remember anyone on any site I've ever been to pulling a stunt like this.

Mr. Martin pulled himself out of the hell of poverty and slum gangs through football. As a high schooler he heard the gunshot that killed his brother. He was determined NOT to live that life. He came to Tennessee, patiently waited his turn behind Manning, and LED OUR TEAM TO A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. He was not a great QB, he WAS the RIGHT QB for a team not loaded with stars, it was loaded with team players. Along the way Tee set the NCAA Record for Consecutive Passes Completed at USCe.
No, Tee wasn't a great QB, but he was much better than average.

As I said before, after he tried other things, he hung around Knoxville trying to get on staff to start a CFB coaching carrer but UK picked him up. Then USC. And, on signing day, in his own office, while discussing recruits from all over the nation, he comments on one who PLAYED IN ONLY ONE GAME his senior year, and that comment is, .... now get this ... "he's soft".

Well dang it! He is! Jalen Hurd IS soft! He ain't had pads on for most of this whole year! He's rehabbing fer ... ah.

Anyway, this hive of hornets takes offense at the evaluation of a junior grade professional to others he works with in his own office that happens to get caught on an open mike. And he gives the correct evaluation. If Jalen had been an out of state recruit all I'd have heard is how "he's injured, we don't want him" like the kid from Carolina last year who wound up not enrolling.

He didn't lose to Memphis and he beat them damn Gators. Something the Pey, I too reverend, never did.
No surprise about the Tee sentiments cause haters gonna hate:

I'm sorry, but it was never T beating teams. It was the amazing team that led to victories. How did T do the next year when he was hyped as a Heisman candidate?

Look, there were any number of quarterbacks that could have led us to the championship that year. T was lucky enough to be the guy. Do I begrudge him that? No. But was he the instrument that led to the NC? Also, no.

Well a couple of points here... First of all it is very uncommon for a coach at a major institution to make disparaging comments regarding high school kids. So much so that the school felt compelled to issue a statement apologizing on behalf of the coach and school. Name another incident where this has taken place.

Secondly, Martin took a highly publicized trip to interview for an opening on our coaching staff not too long ago. Although there could be no way of confirming... It has been widely speculated that he used the publicity to raise his profile (and pay) with no real intention of accepting the job. He couldve politely declined the interview if he had no interest, but that's not what happened. Oh Ya, he also has a teenage son living in Knoxville. Who the hell wouldn't want to jump at any opportunity to be involved in his sons life. I'd give up my current job and be homeless if that's what was required to be around my children.

So yes... I called him a piece of garbage! Guilty as charged.

Look at how angry you are! Seems to be more than football at play here, but that is for another forum. He won a NC, what the f*** have you done for UT football that trumps that superfan? You buy some apparel, go to some games, maybe even donate some money. In your mind that makes you more important to the history of UT football than Tee Martin?

Funny, isn't it?

Any school would have issued the 'apology'. Whether it was justifiably required or not.

I've listened to the tape, I've read the articles. My opinion is it was no big deal, an an honest evaluation of Hurd that got out to sports media who loves to make a mountain out of a molehill an lead guillible fans around like they've got a ring in their nose. It's the old tempest in a teapot.

Mr. Martin's personal and family and business reasons for turning down UT are his own and none of our business unless he and his wife decide to share them. All this 'public trip' 'dragged his family' stuff is pure D horsesh!t. He took the other job. Good for him. How Mr. Martin relates with his son in Knoxville is also none of our business, and any speculation as to what and how he should do that is absolutely meaningless.

The title of this thread, and the just plain wrongheaded meanness is appalling and borders on what I'd expect from a teabagger or a tree killer.

Considering that there is no way of confirming much of the info (as you stated) and we re gonna "speculate" as to Tee's intentions regarding the interview and what he was or wasn't trying to do there, calling him a piece of garbage seems misplaced and flat out juvenile. IMO.

In regards to his family situation, unless you have more solid info (above speculation which is what most of this is based off of) Id have a hard time casting stones in that situation.

Outside of fans getting their feelings hurt? No

I doubt Jalen's confidence will be shaken to the point where he is less effective as a Vol.

Well said.

So we can bash every pllayer on the field (Lincoln, QBs, secondary) but when Tee makes his analysis on a player as a recruiting coach, he's an awful person?

Im not angry. Im just disappointed in him. You think this is racial? I went to UT, I graduated from UT, I represented UT on the athletics field. The fact is he dogged our best recruit since EB. I dont see any other high profile alum doing that, do you?

Exactly, its February and we have nothing else to talk about.

Im in my 30s and had classes with Tee. Im not a hater, just disappointed
