To Protect and to Serve II

I would bet we wouldn’t see much of any increase in drug use, they’re so easy to get now anyone wanting to do drugs doesn’t have any problems getting them. I don’t know of anyone including myself that doesn’t do drugs because they are illegal.
I didn't do drugs when I was younger because I was afraid of being arrested. Addictive drugs scare the hell out of me because of what has happened with fentanyl. I watched a great guy get hooked on opioids and destroy his life because of a work injury. Say what you want about drugs, but you're wrong in my eyes. I'm okay with marijuana, but after that forget it.

Sorriest excuse yet.
Truth. You don’t deal with drug addicts on a daily basis and know their stories and what they are going thru or doing. You have no clue from a law enforcement perspective, from a healthcare perspective or from a societal perspective about addiction or the societal ills and crimes it produces. You are simply clueless on this topic

True but I do know that the WoDs hasn’t done anything to help, it’s only made things worse. How long do you keep doing something that doesn’t work before you realize you need to try something different?

No of course crime didn‘t go away but crime associated with gangs fighting for territory related to illegal booze went away.

Legalize drugs and treat them like booze. Crime associated with drugs would plummet.
That’s a terrible comparison. Drugs are infinitely more destructive and evil. And it has been playing out for decades

Just like in Afghanistan

You keep saying it doesn’t work.. it has and still does. More effective at it’s height as evidenced in total crime statistics, but still effective today..

What makes the drug trade so evil and destructive? The obscene amount of money involved and as long as drugs are illegal the hardcore criminals will continue to profit.

Y’all keep saying it’s a terrible comparison yet can’t dispute it with any data.

Can you point to any measurable data point that shows the WoDs is working?

Says the person who doesn’t have a clue and doesn’t directly see everyday in neighborhoods, with families, or the scores of victims and the effects these crimes have on them.
I'm surprised you know my bio and the circle of people I know and are related to. Crime and punishment just seems to dodge everyone that I know...

Do you have kids in school/drive on a paved road?
The govt brings in plenty of money. That isn't the problem. They spend too much. Maybe after what we've seen recently we can remove some of these responsibilities from them (schools) and they can spend money more wisely and not have to worry about where every penny is going.

Right so instead of taxing drug enterprises you want to keep taxing Joe 6pack

It isn't limited to just drug enterprises. This is some of the issues with civil asset forfeiture because the cops "assume" that a large amount of cash has to be drug money. Money laundering has been abused so much with the WoD and War on Terror that they use it to monitor everyday activity of normal people.

And why is the government depending on drug revenue to meet their financial needs anyways?

If you don’t think the drug trade is evil and destructive you definitely are out of your league
