Manning didn't play well in either of his Super Bowl winsIMO, if you're looking to minimize Brady the best argument you can come up with is that he's been the beneficiary of consistently excellent (not just good, but excellent) play from his defenses. There have been many, many playoff games where he did not play well at all and his team still won, and the media tends to give him all or most of the credit for winning. It seems like most other legendary QBs, in games where they don't play well, their teams lose.
Sure he has. Look at his statlines in XXXVI and LIII. He still even won the SB MVP in XXXVI for going 16/27 for 145 yds and a TD. He's also played poorly in a number of other playoff games and still won, mostly because of his defense forcing key turnovers or getting repeated stops in key situations.Brady hasn't played badly in any of his Super Bowl wins
He doesn’t make the plays...they don’t win. Tis the lot of every team without a generational defense...circa Bears, Ravens or BroncosSure he has. Look at his statlines in XXXVI and LIII. Don't get me wrong - I'm not bashing him, or saying that everybody is wrong about him and that he actually stinks. But the dude does get a lot of undue credit for "carrying his team" in situations where he very clearly did not. And that isn't even necessarily his fault. That's the media's fault, because it is easier to weave a storyline around a QB than it is 11 guys on a defense, or a handful of key plays that they made.
They would have beaten KC last night with the Fournette rushing TD and a FG.The touchdowns. Trading fg’s with KC gets you beat. Trading TD’s put extra pressure that eventually sunk them.

Montana was also incredible in the other 3 SBs they won, to be fair. His lowest QB rating in any of those last 3 was 115.2. Montana also had a higher career postseason QB rating (95.6) than he did during the regular season (92.3).Joe Montana's first SB win he was MVP and he was 14/22 for 157 with a passing and rushing TD (1 yard sneak). To your last point, it's more QB worship than anything. Brady just happens to be the biggest example because he's won and played in more SB than any QB.
Just stop. The whole scope of the game changes if Tampa scores only 1 re and 1 fgThey would have beaten KC last night with the Fournette rushing TD and a FG.
I mean, he's great, but he doesn't necessarily carry the team in every game his team wins. Tampa's pass rush last night (and the entire playoffs) was crazy good.

Kind of interestingly, Brady's postseason QB rating is 90.4, while his regular season QB rating is 97.3. Despite his reputation, on a statistical basis he actually doesn't elevate his play in the playoffs.
90.4 is certainly not terrible, but it is noticeably lower than guys like Aaron Rodgers (100.5), Drew Brees (97.1), and even Matt Ryan (100.8). It isn't much higher than Peyton's (87.4), who still has something of a reputation of a playoff choke artist.
Brady’s success was dependent on the quality of Belicheks as a coach and GM. Many quality Qb’s would have won multiple SB rings with the Patriots organization. In following the Patriots all season, I don't think anyone can declare a winner of who means more Brady or Belichek.
But, I think what you can do is acknowledge that it's pretty clear that the talent level of the Patriots is straight trash and Brady has been able to mask it for years.
They've got nothing.....literally nothing.....at the skill positions. I don't think even the Jets or the Jags would trade their RBs, TEs, and WRs straight up for the garbage that is in New England.
They are 30th in the league in passing yards per game, last in passing TDs. They have 8 passing TDs on the season. 8! To put that in perspective, the Jets have 15.
They are 27th in the league in points scored.
It's a team that is totally bereft of talent.
I've heard people blame it on the salary cap and trying to keep chasing rings, but below is a link to their draft history.
To paraphrase Randy Moss, "Straight trash, homey!"
