Tony B. Booted By 1180 AM

TB will be back.

He wasn't employeed by Jay Bay and 1180. He had purchased airtime from the station for years. Jay Bay purchased the station a couple years ago and allowed Tony to continue to purchase airtime.

JMO, but I'd guess that Jay Bay wasn't profiting off Tony's show like he is the others, and he feels he can fill that slot with a show and make more money.

This. Makes tons of sense. Tony will land on his feet somewhere.

I know he's a clown but I love his show. I'll listen to him wherever he lands

Me too. Despite the pendulum-like swings in the content of the show, he still fills a niche that no one else in this market does. Plus he's at least a Vol fan.

Rumored that Dave Hooker will fill his time slot. If there's anyone who changes stations more than Tony, it's Hooker. But I can see why Hooker would be the guy if true.

Is this the guy that said Gruden has agreed with a deal with TN or is this the guy who said lovie smith was circling mcgee tyson airport in his private plane?

His erroneous commentary keeps some message boards afloat. The land of misinformation

I've met Jbay. Nice guy. Smart. But I'm personally disappointed and Ainge will be my only stop. If Tony ends up opposite TB... Then I'm w/ Tony. Sports has enough downer or talking heads. Tony keeps it real. He's not an expert n relies on experts for info most of the time. He's occasionally off the reservation, but he will be the first to tell you he's entertainment. He's a Rush Limbaugh type. Jbay has missed the boat on this one Bigtime! Not gonna Lorenzo to 1180 as much when TB leaves Speculation is that TB was getting a deal, Jbay wanted to renegotiate, TB is tight w/money. No more deals. Business decision. But give TB the moon jbay!

No....if the station was doing a big March Madness event or giveaway at Calhouns or whatever, Tony would be promoting his own tv giveaway sponsored by Hardee's or something.

I gotcha thanks. I didn't know TB was separate from everyone else. I did notice however that it appears that the other guys don't like him. For me its two hours of negativity. There is not one positive comment about the Vols and he oozes with narcissism through the radio. I'm glad he's going personally.

Not too worried about Tony B. He's bounced around various stations for nearly 20 years here in Knoxville. He's got sponsors, a caller base and I guess lots of folks like me, who listen and never call in.

TSR on the other hand...So far, since 1PM today...it's nothing but the 1988 season revisited on TSR. You've got to be 25 or older to care about that. If that's all TSR has going for it, I don't think it will last. jmo.

It's just they cover local sports more than not. Sports animal can't wait for football and basketball to end so they can talk about national sports. For TSR its just a slow time of the year. We have the women's softball team but other than that, there's not much. I also think they have much better personalities than sports animals.

That's kind of my point. Rather than devoting any time at all to the softball team, who happens to be playing for a national championship, who would be the lowest seeded team to ever win a championship or any mention of Ellen Renfroe's stunning performance versus the #1 team in the country...They devote hours of air time to a team that started off the 1988 season by going 0-6, including a loss to Duke. I had a friend on that team and I still don't want to be reminded of that season.

Im sure tb is a nice enough guy but he spent way too much time talking about pro wrestling and other completley irrellavent bs. I changed the channel a lot when he was on. Looking forward to the change.

I do not see all the love with 1180 AM. It is no more than a college sports rumor mill. I listen to Ainge and the Swain and Rucker show occasionally. It is entertaining but usually what they are saying is BS.

I like listening to Ainge during the season. Good analysis and conversation. This time of year they could play the same show everyday of the week and I wouldn't know a difference.

Word is that they will be shifting other shows to make room for 3HL as the first station to carry the show for another station other than 104.5 the zone. So please welcome Clay Travis to Knoxville everyone its confirmed.
