Tony B. Booted By 1180 AM

Why the snarkiness? I'm in the business directly, so I was just giving insight. Why do people have to be smart asses?

Honestly didn't mean to be snarky. I just found your certainty rather odd. You could be right. I'm in media too and I see affiliates bought and sold and overhauled all the time, so I was just offering my own insight.

I don't like to see anyone lose their job, but he was the one show on that station that I could not listen too... I wish him well in whatever he does.

Tony B will be missed. His show is a change of pace type show, filled with entertainment. Some keep referring to Tony as a clown. That is kind of the point of his show. Remember, it's entertainment, with a Big Orange twist.

Tony's show was never the same without Beano. Beano is a fountain of knowledge when it comes to UT Sports. I hear callers on other shows ask a question on something that happened in UT Football or Basketball. Doc,Jeff,Heather,John,Jimmy and other talk radio hosts wouldn't know the answer. I would be listening and know the answer. That never happened with Beano. Beano always knew the answer.

I'm still not seeing gay Travis being out on 1180 seeing how much Ainge and jay bay hate the guy.

Agree. I don't think people realize that jay bay owns the station. He's not putting that guy on after he used Ainge's drug addiction in an attack on him.

Basilio, a true Vol Fan? Did y'all ever listen to him. He was negative about everyone and everything connected to every Tennessee Athletic Program. He had no insight into anything, he never prepared for a show, so he just played to the lowest mental denominator and complained about the coaches, the players, the administration, etc. Then he just set back while the same 8 or 9 callers called in and backed him up.

The best comparison of Hyams and Basilio was given by a caller who said, "when UT hired Kiffin, Hyams was interviewing Pete Carroll and Basilio was talking to W. Lynn.

Good riddance to the pied piper of the "Legions of the Miserable."

I thought Tony had the best show on TSR. Passionate about Tennessee sports and defended the Tennessee fans when mickey dearstone tried to blame the fans instead of dooley. Wish Tony the best. Good post about him on tos by Randy Moore everyone should read.

I think you misunderstand the situation. Basilio is a real UT fan. He has a passion for it. That's why he was upset (like most UT fans) to sit and watch it be run into the ground by the likes of Hamilton and Dooley. So he spoke up about it. Hyams, on the other hand, doesn't give a $#@% about UT, so he's fine to sit back and tell everyone you have to wait 3 years before you make any evaluations and blah blah blah. It's the perfect situation for him. He sucks up to the administration, who in turn give him preferential treatment and job security, and it doesn't matter to him that the program is decimated. He's happy to turn a blind eye to it.

I tuned in a few times on lunch break on tune in app. Took my entire break to figure out what was going on. For me it was like a low budget film. Parts were great but the entire thing just felt thrown together. Would be great to eat lunch and listen to full time UT sports instead of full time comedy/bashing hour and part time sports.

JMO. Best of luck to TB!

Some people just don't get that Tony's show is about entertainment, not reporting. You don't tune in to his show to be informed. In some ways, Tony is the TMZ of Tennessee sports.

So ... if all you want is reporting and objectivity, stick with Hyams. If you want a firehose of orange sunshine pumped up your butt, listen to Doc, Jeff, & Heather. If you want to listen to a bunch of former Tennessee players talk about their perspective, then 1180 is the place to go.

It's all about what you like.

Personally, I've always thought Tony was pretty funny. I don't always agree, but he and his callers always make me laugh. My favorite time in all of sports radio is "Caller Halloween."

I like TB but you could see his time was limited. TSR is about x VIPs talking about current vols. take it or leave it. TB is a good radio guy and will be fine. It's all about where J Bay wants to go w his station. TB is ok with it so I'm sure he will land on his feet. I'll miss his show but I'll still listen to TSR over any radio talk in k town. I can't stand the golf and tennis talk on the other channel and the am show suck donkey sweat off the butt
