Mike knows we need as much help as possible so he won't look like a fool. He knows if we lose a lot of players we will be mediocre at best and will be lookin for his head
This is more university policy than anything else. Not good to set a precedent of releasing recruits from LOI upon request.
If this is true this is the first foul on CCM, his first job should be to keep this team and recruits together before we have nothing decent to put on a court. Why the he'll does he have to wait after the final 4?
We get it OICVol, you don't care about ruining kids lives. You don't need to repeat the same thing over and over again.
Jones and Ware's goal might be to make it pro and they might feel like playing for Zo would significantly lower their chances. They signed at the age of 17-18 to play for another coach. Forcing them to to stay is an absolutely disgusting move. This is the biggest decision they've ever had to make in their brief life and it could drastically impact the outcome. I hope you'd be okay with someone doing this to you or your child. Potentially ruining your chance to go pro and make millions of dollars. Pretty sure Kiffin and Dooley have both told committed kids to take a hike or cut off contact with them. Seems pretty fair that kids are forced to go some place they don't want to go after a coaching change but a new coach can come in and tell commits they don't want them. If the school is going to be shady, they should just go to prep school for a year. Forcing them to come is complete bulls***.

You must have no clue. This would be the last thing on Mike's mind.
If, in fact, Hamilton didn't grant his release yet, it is because it's the right thing to do AT THIS POINT. They aren't going to entertain granting any releases until Cuonzo has a chance to meet with these guys. At that point, if the players want their releases, I am certain UT will give it to them.
Why?
About time Hamilton has some balls!
Do not release him or Jones (if he signed);
Tough it out kid! You signed the paper and now suck it up!

Like it or not, it's a business. If the new coach had no problem with him being released, he'd be released by now people. Don't act like this is Mike Hamilton's call, alone.
Exactly! The coach's input is definitely a part of this decision. In fact it may be paramount. Derek Dooley was certainly a big part of these decisions with Brice Brown and Douglas.
The way everyone seems so quick to jump and blame MH for everything without thinking it through these days...
Classy. I'm glad you put your own selfish desires to see UT succeed in basketball ahead of the opportunity for a kid to maximize his potential and have a shot at making it to the NBA. I seriously can't wrap my head around how so many on here want to force these kids to come to UT even though it will likely be detrimental to their future. Like somebody else said earlier, how would you feel if it was your son involved and the university was trying to hold his future hostage in an effort to lighten the blow from having to fire the previous coach. I bet you'd see things just a little differently. Just let the kids go, it's not like they've even enrolled in school yet.
