Tony Romo just said about Heupel

I think it's funny if this was put out there in the hopes of causing a distraction. Heup and this team don't get distracted.
Heup probably won't but stuff gets in kids heads, if they thought it was true it could cause some morale issues, it's something he needs to squash quick.

I don't see Heupel leaving at the end of the season. Even in worse case scenario, he will be back next year.

I don't get the vibe he is interested in other jobs but if we have a great season next year, there will be a big push from someone. Key for us is his close relationship with Danny White which is another positive for Tennessee.

In summary, I am not worried.

The thing that doesn’t really make me worried about this atm is his loyalty to Danny White and overall just appears and genuinely likes being here. It wouldn’t be worse than Kiffin, Kiffin bolted and took another college job which was beyond silly. At least this would be the NFL

If we've ever had a coach who attracted interest from the NFL, I'm not aware of it. This actually feels pretty good ... as long as we're able to keep him.

... and think about how much things have changed in 21 months. Would any of us even want to trade Heupel for Jon Gruden now?

VN Grumors (2008-2020) RIP

Donde Plowman struck gold -- orange gold -- when she hired that fella on the left. Then he built a diamond mine and got the fella on the right.

And they both have about 30-35 more years before retirement age.

We're gonna be doing very, very well for decades to come, friend.

We're just getting started buckle up enjoy the ride!

I think if Heupel wanted to be in the NFL, he would be in the NFL right now. The only thing that the NFL could offer him was a big cash pay day, nothing like long term stability or ultimate success that he may have here. Having success against the Bama's and LSU's of this world doesn't mean your going to beat the Buffalo Bills or Dallas Cowboys. Apples and Oranges , my friends. But then again, if he wanted to double his salary starting next year, hello Houston Texans.

The only thing we can do is pay the man what he's worth and then the Texans won't come calling. But if New England, Dallas, LA, or any of the NYC teams wants to triple his current pay in a couple of years (and he's sick of flying to Thurman, South Carolina every other week to try to convince some entitled 16 year old to come to Tennessee), then well...

BTW. I don't think most NFL teams would be lining up to hire someone with no NFL coaching experience. Of course, never underestimate the desperation (or stupidity) of a last place NFL team's GM.

Going to the Texans, or even the Titans, would be a dumb move.

Heupel has his eyes on making Tennessee a champion again. And a team that is feared year in out. Heupel isn’t leaving Tennessee at year 2. He can build a winning championship program right here and he knows it. And he will get paid handsomely for it! He loves it here! GBO!!!!

I believe there have been just 2 college coaches to succeed in the NFL (Johnson, Carroll) but I may be missing someone. Heupel is a smart guy, so I think he'd be smart enough to know the odds of that working out. Many don't care because they can land a good college job after that, but you don't just have programs like UT ready and waiting all the time. He can and will do what he wants and that's his call, but would be a shame to walk away from what he's building. I don't think it would be a money thing.

Spurrier
Saban
Meyer
Chip Kelly
Rhule
Kiffin
Even Jimmy Johnson didn’t do great in the NFL

JJ won 2 SuperBowls and really should get some credit for the 96 one. Lou Holtz also tried it, as have others like Butch Davis. It almost always fails.

I honestly cannot deal with this. We deserve some happiness. I'm going to enjoy this season and will stop clicking on these things.
