Top 10 CF teams of all time...

The body of work doesn't seem as impressive as the 2001 Canes or 1995 Huskers, but that's just my opinion. I understand they were exceptional, but I just don't see them having enough success against that defense.

Just so everyone is aware, I do agree that the Huskers had a more impressive resume, but I just don't think they win head to head.

The point is who was the best team ever in THEIR respective season. I doubt very much whoever put the list together thinks that '45 Army would beat '99 FSU.

Well, would the 1938 Vols beat the 2008 Vols? I know there isn't as much of a time difference, but that's not my point. The point is who was the best team ever in THEIR respective season. I doubt very much whoever put the list together thinks that '45 Army would beat '99 FSU.
It's hard to simply compare them that way. I understand the comparison doesn't really work for teams many years apart, but it's not really fair to compare teams solely on their season when they don't play the same schedule. It should definitely be considered, but I feel like you have to look at more than that.

Nebraska's schedule was as tough, if not tougher. They played a much better opponent in the NC. They completely buzz sawed everybody in their way.

1894 Yale was the greatest team of all time......:)

I'm half joking about that. The other half says they went 16-0 and gave up 13 points the whole entire season playing just about every major college football program at the time, and destroying them with ease......

Their average margin of victory wasn't that much higher, and I could be wrong, but it seemed like they were more likely to run up the score. I just think the Canes defense gives them the nod.

Did you watch the 'Cuse and Washington game? I did, and Miami most definitely ran up the score. The Washington A.D. said after the game they would never play Miami again IIRC.

I did as well. They did run up the score, but it's not really any different what Nebraska did all season, with a few exceptions. (I'm just basing that on the game box scores. Don't remember how their performance actually varied by half.)

No way that team was top ten of all time. Quit being a baby.

I wasn't being a baby and wasn't even saying we were top 10 of all time. My point was if Florida St 1999 team made it our 1998 team should have. Don't be a prick!

Nebraska didn't really run up the score so much as the other team's D couldn't walk.

:eek:lol:

You beat FSU's backup QB in a game plagued by turnovers and mistakes.

That said, the Vols were the best team in the country that year and a very deserving national champion....but they were NOWHERE near Top 10 all-time.

We had our back up running backs... Jamal Lewis was hurt.

I call it a wash.

And UF's whipped UT's ass the past half decade....neither is relevant to the thread topic.

This isn't a discussion about UF's '98 squad. Like your '98 squad they don't deserve to sniff the Top 10 CFB all-time teams...even less in fact.

And here's a little tip for you....if you don't quote my posts, then you and others won't have to read them multiple times. :eek:lol:

But we all know you can't resist.

Whipping our ass the past half decade isn't exactly a major accomplishment. Half the Sec has been whipping our ass over the same time period.

You didn't that year....Noooooo sir eeee....No the 98 UT team was not one of the top 10 ever...Good enough to beat UF and FSU however...Hold the great Peter Warrick to 5 yards recieving...Uh how many yards did he have against UF that year?....Oh nevermind, Doesn't matter does it :) Bottomline is UF LOST to the Rooster lmao..That in itself is worth an honorable mention..Now please, Proceed with the draino ingestion, :good!:
