Top 5 hitters not on roids?

You think Puhols is clean? I'm leaning towards no.

He has came a long way since being this skinny kid.

Good Lord.

He wasn't on the Mitchell Report, there has never been a competent link to him on steroids and he has yet to fail a drug test.

Until proven otherwise, he's clean. I'm not against the idea that someone can hit a major league team and get to use their facilities and their strength and conditioning experts and add muscle.

That's true Bill. There are plenty of ways to get big without roids.

I've gotten a lot bigger from my early 20's to now ( I'll be 27 in June) with protein, weights and Creatine. I can only imagine what one could do with their body with a full time nutritionist and trainer.

I understand. He just added a lot of bulk in not a lot of time and it makes me question how he did it. In 2000, he was a skinny kid tearing his way threw the minors. In 2003, he was a massive man hitting 40+ homers a year against the best of the best.

That is a whole lot of mass he added. I hope he did it legit though.

I'd have to go

Griffey
Manny
Chipper

Also, count me in on pujols not being clean.

Ted Williams-never saw
Tony Gwynn
Ricky Henderson (maybe...he was pretty cut)
Manny Ramirez.... again maybe
Mickey Mantle-never saw

...although the cover of this week's SI does have a bit of a Rafael Palmeiro feel about it.

I was devastated when I found out he was a user. He was my second all time favorite player untill then. I still have him in my top 10 though......

His name has not come up one time. Not once. As big of a punk as he is you'd think someone out there if they had something would have already came forward....

Valid point. In this "era", I'd go with

Albert Pujols
Manny
Gwynn
Ichiro
Mike Schmidt (if he counts)

Mattingly, Boggs, Gwynn, Helton, Manny

I'd have to go

Griffey
Manny
Chipper

Also, count me in on pujols not being clean.

Griffey, Chipper, Ripken, Manny, did i mention griffey

Well, so much for that.

BPV, good call on Manny.

For the record, he didn't test positive for roids

yeah, but he test positive for something that gets your test levels back to normal after doing a steroid cycle.. so i guess you can say he got away with taking roids?

Yea, I meant it as a joke

In no particular order:

Pete Rose
Ted Williams
Babe Ruth
Hank Aaron
Ty Cobb

Very honorable mentions to Albert Pujols and Ichiro. When they are done playing, my list may need revision.

I think it matters what type of hitting. Dingers or average?

My favorites in no order are due to their ability to hit for both average and power.

Stan "The Man" Musial Great ball player and even better person.

Ty "The Georgia Peach" Cobb (terrible person but great ball player)

Ted "Slendid Splinter" No telling what he would have done if he would have played the years he spent serving our nation in WWII and Korean war.

The Babe. with all the dingers he still ended with a career avg of .342 and 714 HR. Plus a great left handed pitcher before moving to Right field.

Lou Gehrig. Not only did he hit with power but had a career avg of .340 and was known as a clutch hitter. His career Grand Slam record of 23 is just amazing. Plus being the "Iron Horse" and playing every day adds to his greatness.

Hank Aaron. So good for so long and in the later part of his career he had so much pressure that most today could not ever imagine. Class all the way.

Other notables:
Roberto Clemente
Pete Rose
Frank Robinson
Willie Mays
Johnny Bench
Yogi Berra

Ty Cobb was the toughest baseball player to ever play the game. I also think he's misunderstood as a person.

In the steroid era, the 5 best hitters not on roids were..........

1. Ken Griffey Jr.
2. Derek Jeter
3. Chipper Jones

And, that's about it.

He was racist in his playing days but he was no more racist than anybody else from the south. Growing up with the Jim Crow laws, lynchings, and KKK was probably the reason for the racism. It would take a very love-filled person to overcome that. He did overcome it though. In 1952 he was asked if blacks should be allowed to play baseball, he said yes. It was no secret he praised Willy Mays as a player. I think Cobb was more of a product of his time than a truly terrible person.

Not everyone in the South was racist at that time and he was still a racist while in Detroit. Living in the South doesn't let his murder(s) off the hook. That's just dumb.

nobody can even prove that he committed murder. from what i understand about it, is that the guy mugged him in an alley got stabbed in the back with a knife and then beat the mugger to death. Of course you be talking about something else.
