Why are they unnecessarily tight? That’s your standard. UW’s last 4 classes are 19, 42, 89 and 24; their talent on paper isnt a juggernaut. They’re talented on the field because they’ve been developed well. Doesn’t erase the fact that they typically recruit 3-4th best in the PAC-12.They played unnecessarily tight games all season long, and gave Texas every opportunity to win the Sugar Bowl before Sark decided to Sark it up. They had a better QB than Oregon or Michigan, and I'd put their WR starters on par with Texas and Oregon.
Just see DeBoer as Drinkwitz-tier in the SEC.
Its only fun when it's Saban losing it on the sideline.I was sure looking forward to some more...

Who’s the circle that doesn’t have an equivalent to better job? Only Kiffin.None of that indicates success at Bama in the new SEC - but that doesn’t mean he won’t be successful. Just surprising they had to go outside the obvious circles. Even Saban failed miserably in the NFL meaning that sometimes great coaches are unable to rise above a very different environment.
He was but that was one and a half years. His one full year was 9-3, right? I’m going off memory so maybe I’m wrong. He’s a good coach and of course next year will be tough as he will have a loaded roster but I like our chances next year and beyond.Yeah but he was good at Fresno too. With the stocked roster at Bama (yes I know there’s transfers) I don’t think next years game will be a walk in the park.
You have to take the little thrills where you can find them.Well that was a boring coach search
Valid points.. ours just have that extra panache, flair and mystery hopefully, we won’t have to do another for a very long timeYou have to take the little thrills where you can find them.
Having Bama swing and miss, what, four times before getting a bite? Lanning, then Sarkisian, then Norvell, then Butch Jones, and finally having to settle on DeBoer? That's pretty fun. Heh.
Seriously, though, Dan White executed his coaching search more efficiently and with far less public awareness of the steps, under much more trying circumstances, than Bama just did.
I'd say this reconfirms how blessed we are with our new AD.
Go Vols!
Apples to apples: Saban took UM to OT. Washington got curb stomped by UM. Bama, a much better team at the end of the year, probably would have beaten TX in the playoffs. They weren’t equally talented though on paper. Where does Washington match up vs Texas, Oregon and Michigan in recruiting rankings? He did what Saban couldn’t do this year and beat Texas.
The point is his team wasn’t loaded compared to the other 3 playoff teams, nor compared to some of the other teams they beat i.e. Oregon. The staff developed and schemed very well, ala what Heupel has done.Apples to apples: Saban took UM to OT. Washington got curb stomped by UM. This is definitely not something a new HC should be happy about. Saban critiquing every move you make. Can’t wait!!!!
I think Saban is just doing damage control. He's trying not to have his retirement create a stampede of guys to the portal and a bunch of decommits of his recruits. This is the part that absolutely thrills me. Kalen is a good coach and develops talent, I think that’s clear. But following the GOAT in the current age is hard enough - now imagine having Saban riding everything you do, raising eyebrows at every decision, and being in the shadow to remind people how good things were when he was the coach and he’s still in the building.
Not going to end well and I love to see it.
