Trade Deadline/Rumors thread

From Jon Heyman:

teams that saw ubaldo included bos, tex, det, tor, nyy. reds make sense. scout: "stuff down but still good.'' #tradedeadline

#reds were also there for ubaldo, i just heard. #tradedeadline

I think the Yankees want Felix and are ready to give up the farm for him.

I'd be surprised if he ended up on Boston.

Detroit doesn't have the prospects.

I don't know if the Reds want to give up all that young talent.

Toronto needs to be patient.

I can definitely see Texas going for him though.

SHUT UP! SHUT UP! SHUT UP! SHUT UP! SHUT UP!

(actually, JD was great that year and helped lead us to the playoffs. But still. SHUT UP!)

:)

I'll start back my annual thread in 2012 thanking the Braves for that trade I am sure.

That's why I love baseball transactions.

Everyone in Atlanta talks about what a terrible trade that was. What's funny was, at the time, it was a great trade because Kyle Davies was just as good. Well, looking back on it. It wasn't lol.

Cards showing interest in Jeremy Hellickson from the Rays. I would say that it's dependent on all other deals falling through though. That would be an interesting move on 2 parts to me. Would help this year and would also tell me Cards may (repeat may) part ways with Carp after this year. Would also add another good arm to the fold (with Miller and Martinez expected up in 13 and 14). I'd take Rasmus for him in a heartbeat.

Also showing brief interest in Hiroki Kuroda. Not sure what I would give up for him, but he would definitely solidify the #3 spot in the rotation for this year.

Kuroda would be a good pickup for you guys.

Why the hell would the Rays trade Hellboy?

He wasn't. But stating that the best player on an underfunded undertalented team is the reason they haven't won anything since he arrived is among the more moronic of your know-it-all statements.

Unfortunately for them, the Miguel Cabrera trade didn't pan out like they were hoping.

•One executive Stark spoke to wouldn't be surprised to see a dark horse like the Reds or Brewers make a late run at Mets right fielder Carlos Beltran.

I think from a Cards perspective it's a "You want Rasums? Ok, here's what we want." I know Mo really likes Hellickson and has made it know for some time.

Kuroda's would be a solid, although not spectacular, deal. Just really depends on what the Dodgers want. Given how they want to shed payroll, it may not take top tier prospect to him him.

I thought Beltran wasn't particularly interesting in playing CF. I guess if they can talk him into it he'd waive the NTC

I don't know. I haven't been following the Beltran situation that closely but I doubt the Brewers would trade for him to start over Braun or Hart.
