Trade Deadline/Rumors thread

So you're stupid like me?

In a sense, yes. :)

Actually, they won't trade him this year. I should have put that in my original post.

Apparently he wants out of Florida BAD. And Florida is known for money-pinching. It wouldn't surprise me if his name came up next year at the deadline once the flash of the new stadium is gone.

Except for the fact Florida will be a stone cold contender next year. Wait til you see who is managing that young talent and Loria is going to spend to make the first year in the new OB a winner.

They pinched pennies playing in an awful ballpark in the middle of BFE. They still won two World Championships. Now, they will have a revenue plus stadium where they should have always been playing. Atlanta and Philadelphia should be sick to their stomachs. If they couldn't out achieve Florida with them playing in the sticks, they've got real problems now.

Please. Loria is a penny pincher. Always has been, always will be. That won't change. He's not as bad as he use to be, but still. They will get people the first year or two, but as you said before, Miami is an awful sports town. They aren't going to show still.

Here's a good article.

You can put that out there all you want. The baseball people in the Florida org, who are as good as anyone, have been promised the current core will be kept together and they will be active in adding help. Loria put his money where his mouth was on that with contracts to the scouting/player development guys. If he pulls the plug, he's 7 mil in on org guy money now.

From what I've read, the Marlins may trade a bullpen arm or two, but plan on holding everyone else because of the move.

It'd be a horrible move to trade the face of their franchise 9 months before Opening Day in a new stadium.

Despite publicly insisting they don't intend to trade Colby Rasmus, the Cardinals have engaged in discussions with the White Sox about the outfielder, reports Joe Strauss of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Strauss says talks between the two teams have "accelerated" within the last few days.
According to Strauss, Edwin Jackson and Matt Thornton are among the players who could interest the Cardinals. The Cards would also be looking for minor league talent from the White Sox, and a third team "may be sought to facilitate a deal."
The Nationals and Rays also remain interested in Rasmus, who has seen a recent decline in his playing time as Jon Jay has taken over as St. Louis's primary center fielder.

So when is the deadline, 27th? I'm still under the impression the Braves need Mid relief help.

By the way, whoever was asking about where to get the best info near the deadline. Follow Buster, Tim K, Ken Rosenthal, etc. on Twitter. That is what the mlbtraderumors guys do

Pence is who I want as well.

ESPN says the Cards are close to dealing Rasmus to the White Sox for one of Thornton or Jackson and a prospect.

nationals may be very well in the mix for bj upton, if he'd sign an extension

And now the Trade rumors will kick in to high gear...

**MLB TRADE RUMORS** Sources have confirmed the Mariners have started scouting the Yankees minor league team’s ( Montero is the target) – Also reports are they have high interest in (SS) Edwin Nunez.. Rumors are the Yankees have a slight interest in Bedard & Vargas but the Source also states the Yanks believe Felix Hernandez (King Felix) could become available if they part with 4 top prospects – This is starting to heat up… Stay Tuned!

Felix is great, but giving up 4 of your top prospects, ouch.

Would be phenomenal get though.

Because he's an All Star Short Stop for the Marlins. And considered by many to be one of the best in the game.

He's a cancer, an awful teammate, and someone who does not play the game properly. I don't care if he hits like Ted Williams, the Marlins have never done anything for a reason.
