Trade Deadline/Rumors thread

Braves should take a stab at getting Tyler Clippard from the Nats. His name has been mentioned as being on the block. Maybe they could pry Michael Morse away as well. I don't think he's in the long-term plans for the Nats, can play all corner IF and OF spots, good against LHP, lots of power. I haven't heard his name in any rumors as being available, but again, I don't think he's in their long-term plans. They will take a run at Prince Fielder this off-season, and they're set at 3B, LF, and RF with Zimmerman, Werth, and Harper. Morse wouldn't have a position.

He wasn't. But stating that the best player on an underfunded undertalented team is the reason they haven't won anything since he arrived is among the more moronic of your know-it-all statements.

He is the problem there. If he was a better teammate and took the game seriously, they would have had more success, and you know that.

He is a good hitter, but a terrible person to have on your team.

Its kind of like that for both guys. Every year, people talk about how Rasmus is going to break out and turn into a star and it hasn't happened yet.

Maybe this prospect can turn into an Adam Wainwright and then basically it's JD Drew for Jason Marquis part 2. (I know, I know, I'm reaching here.)

Olney:

Sources: Mets expected to finish evaluation of rival farm systems in next day or two, as they prepare for Beltran deal.

Among the players Rays are willing to trade: Kyle Farnsworth, who is having a strong year as the Tampa Bay closer.

Farnsworth on his way to being a member of every team in MLB.

I love it when a guy like him has his name come up and my first thought it immediately is "How is he still in the game?"

He throws hard. The game is infested with folks who only put stock in what a radar gun says.

Numbers wise, his BABIP is much lower than his career averages and his xFIP is over a run higher than his current ERA. He's also stranding 10% more runners than average.

And then you have his history of inconsistency as NYY pointed out. Farnsworth is always a risk.

A risk, yeah. But he's throwing a completely new pitch and actually controlling it. His walk rates are way, way down. It's a mix of some luck and vastly improved pitching overall.

SHUT UP! SHUT UP! SHUT UP! SHUT UP! SHUT UP!

(actually, JD was great that year and helped lead us to the playoffs. But still. SHUT UP!)
