Trade Deadline/Rumors thread

• One exec who has been speaking with the Rockies and Reds suggests that if that swap happens, it could be a larger deal than just Homer Bailey, Travis Wood and high-end prospects for Jimenez. He said he believes the teams have discussed an expanded version that could include someone the likes of Seth Smith, because the Reds also have been targeting controllable bats.

I could live with that

I don't understand this either. What value is there in a 33 year old SS who's an average fielder and has been terrible at the plate this season?

Bourn
Prado
McCann
Jones
Freeman
Uggla
Heyward
Gonzalez

I like it.

Not necessarily. I'd prefer to keep all three, because even though Ubaldo's a pretty good pitcher he hasn't really been fantastic since the 2010 All-Star break.

He's still a good pitcher whose under cheap team control for a couple years. He's immediately NY's second best pitcher. If he's healthy (which is a big if), it's a great deal for NYY>

True. I just don't feel like losing a guy like Montero who could be one of the game's best hitters at his peak.

He's not a catcher. He'll be a 1B/LF/DH type. Which means he immediately loses a ton of value. They already have Buenolos (sp) to come in the rotation. And they could sign another guy. It makes tons of sense for NYY.
