Trade Deadline/Rumors thread

?

Freeman has been excellent and done a job as an RBI threat.

Uggla is now Uggla and has been amazing in July.

Chipper is still a good RBI threat.

The Braves can drive him in. The 2-5 players have not been the issue. It's been leadoff and 6-8.

You really want to rely on a rookie, one of the streakiest hitters in the league and an injury prone relic to drive guys in? You need another bat in that lineup, and not a bottom of the order guy.

Freddie has been good all year.

Uggla is out of his slump.

True about Chipper.

Obviously, I would prefer a power bat. They are more important anyways.

However, our #2 hitter has a .318 OBP. Our leadoff hitter for two months has a .307 OBP. Jason Heyward, who was our best hitter last year, has a .308 OBP. We need someone who can get on base too.

After looking at Harden's medical info, Sox weren't convinced he'd be able to make enough starts down the stretch to make a viable impact, per the Boston Herald.

No surprise here, once word came out that it fell apart, something along these lines had to be the case.

2009-2010: 96.1 MPH
2011: 93.4 MPH

Braves deal with Bourne is done, announcement soon.

Not the best, but with both the CFs hurt, it's what we needed.

Hou gets J Schafer, lhp Brett Oberholtzer, rhp Paul Clemens & rhp Juan Abreu

Didn't give up too much, I can live with it.

Oberholtzer is the only legit prospect they gave up, but is like #5 or #6 in pitching prospects for the Braves. I've always liked Schafer, but doubt he will ever pan out. Clemens has intriguing numbers, but control issues suggest bullpen future and Abreau is a 26 year old in AAA, with decent numbers out of the bullpen. And Atlanta has a pretty decent bullpen already. Not a bad deal.

Tweet from Heath Bell:
Sounds like I might be in the playoff race tomorrow...we will see! But I'm excited to see what happens. #tradedeadline

I've been seeing that the Yankees are interested.

Yankees are going after Wandy Rodriguez. The Astros might as well trade him now because that team is done for the next 5+ years.
