This is exactly what the Dodgers needed. I hate to lose prospects like LaRoche but you have to make these deals sometimes. Imagine Manny playing for Joe Torre. I think Manny will play hard now that he is playing for a new deal. The winner of the NL west might just finish above .500.

They were going to be paying him that anyways so it doesn't really matter. They get 2 months of a Manny that is going to be playing for a big contract next year. They needed a big bat for a playoff push and they got one of the biggest you can get for a bargain. Throw in the fact that they are guaranteed to get compensation in the form of two first round draft picks, I'd say they did alright for themselves.
