Trade Deadline Thread

I was once a Dunn fan but now I will be happy to see him go whenever that may be. Seeing him fail in big situations time and time again and see him turn routine balls into big innings for other teams has just killed it for me.

If the Reds trade Ken Griffey Jr. to the White Sox then they could go after Rangers outfielder Nelson Cruz, who is tearing up Triple A Oklahoma but is blocked at the big league level. The Rangers could also try to move outfielder Marlon Byrd and make room for Cruz. The Rangers are still talking to the Marlins about catcher Gerald Laird. The Reds are also interested.

possible lil deal involving the Reds.

For all of you Nats fans thirsting for news, the White Sox are interested in young lefty John Lannan (my favorite player) and the Mets will probably pick up reliever Luis Ayala (awful).

What are they going to get for Lannan? That doesn't seem like a smart deal for the Nats since he is under control for a long time.

Looks like the Manny deal is dead...Pirates are asking the world for Bay....Still possible the Marlins and Sox will do a 2 team deal...I love this time of the year but god it kills me stress wise LOL

Well the Reds won't be getting Neimann or Hellickson, doesn't seem like the Rays are in on Adam Dunn anymore, I guess I was a couple hours behind on that.

If the Reds can pick up Cruz and either Hellickson or Niemann, this will be looked at as the day the franchise finally turned around
Cruz likely won't change anything for this franchise's future. He is killing the ball in AAA (.700+ slugging) but he is 28 already and hasn't done to great when he has had cups of coffee in the majors. He could be a solid replacement guy though with some decent potential.

All true, but he bats right and could be a good addition to the lineup, at least until Alonso is up and Votto moves into the OF. I was actually more excited about Niemann or Hellickson, but doesn't look like that will be happening.

So does getting rid of Griff give that extra boost in funds the Reds need in order to make a run at Sabbathia in the offseason?

Getting Helickson would have been amazing. I wouldn't be surprised if the D'Backs came back with one more offer.

Rumor: Reds send Homer Bailey (+ ?) to texas for Cruz and Salty. Just a rumor but that would be a nice trade for the Reds.

Big news. Bay is a Ray.

With the three-way deal between the Pirates, Red Sox, and Marlins falling through, an MLB.com source says that the Rays are going to acquire right-handed hitting outfielder Jason Bay for Minor League prospects including shortstop Reid Brignac and right-hander Jeff Niemann. The Rays have not confirmed the deal.

While I'm not too afraid of Bay, I still don't like it for the rest of the AL East

And all I heard was that the Sox were interested in Lannan, nothing else.

Him being dealt would be devastating for the Nats.
