Transfer Portal 21-22

My question has probably been explained before. Assuming their are fewer scholarships available at universities than the number of players who enter the portal.

Does a player fully relinquish her scholarship if she is finds no future home and desires to stay/return to her existing 2021-22 school? Another way of asking: Is entering the portal putting just a toe to test the water or a full jump with no return into the pool?

With Saxton coming back and Fletcher committing SC is a traffic jam now for anyone else wanting to go there. Players there could still get in the portal until May 1st. Plus players in the portal can always go back to their original school unless the coach says no. Be interesting where Reese and Owusu ends up hopefully not UConn they have quite a bit of room for transfers.

Depends on the situation if the coach allows you back. If they asked you to leave. If they want you back yes you can go back until July Ist.

I don't think SC has any space left, unless they have someone who is planning on leaving besides the other 4 seniors (Wesolek, Henderson, Grissett, Littleton).

Littleton may come back. That said, I think the only transfer we were taking is an experienced PG. now that we have Fletcher I’m almost positive Dawn won’t take anybody else this year. She’s not a fan of the big team. Normally she only carried 12.

Maybe CKH can snag another great portal player in addition to a backup 5, y’all have room I think. I am hoping our roster stays put now, I don’t care what the pedigree, we need to get our youth PT and let them develop more, I would have been upset if we took either of those Md. transfers, let them go where they are needed more. SC needs to develop its youth not chase the portal. Fletcher will fill a role and not upset the Apple cart imo.

Littleton pretty much said good bye in a recent tweet without actually saying she is gone, but it would benefit her to spend her last year where she can play, she is a good player And could make a big contribution somewhere else where they are thin at shooting guard.

More great news coming out of Rocky Top!

I know a good number of you all focus your time and energy on Dawn Staley, yet there’s not a better culture in WBB than Tennessee right now. Truly a family environment🍊.

She's one of 12 players attending, usually (but not always) a pretty good sign you'll get drafted in the 1st round or early 2nd. Neither Williams or Nelson-Ododa from UConn are attending.

Agree to disagree. TK has improved in a few areas, mostly shot blocking ability, but not in others, certainly not consistently. If she continues to not help us offensively and we bring in a post who can, I think the Sr starts giving way to the younger player eventually.
With the threat of injuries always lurking, another post would be good, but we may already have the younger player who can help on offense.

Just a reminder, but in the biggest game of the year (because it was in the NCAA Tournament, in the Sweet Sixteen), 6’3 Karoline Striplin played the best game of her very young college career.

For comparison:

In 33 minutes, Tamari Key made 1 of 5 field goals and 1 of 4 free throws for 3 points in the game. She had 10 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block, and 3 turnovers.

In 15 minutes, Karoline Striplin made 2 of 2 field goals and 3 of 4 free throws for 7 points. She had 6 rebounds, 1 block, and 0 turnovers.

Striplin showed what she could do when it mattered, in the biggest game, with the most significance and pressure.

Tamari is the intimidator and rim protector, but Striplin is versatile, and will be, I think, highly prepared for a bigger role next season. Maybe Marta, too, or maybe a new player, all good.
Next season looks very promising.

GO LADY VOLS!!!

UConn doesn’t need a PG so they won’t even look at Owusu. Doubt they want Reese either, they need post players and Angel fancies herself a guard even though she cannot shoot for a lick from outside the box. Geno will take a pass on those two.

Owusu is a good PG, she will find a home easily, Reese also, but whomever takes Reese will have to let her play the perimeter even though she isn’t suited for that role.

Born in April 1998, Annie will be 24-1/2 when the season starts. I wonder what she's studying?

Nevermind, just noticed her major at the bottom: Human Development and Family Science. Funny.
She's going the 6-year route lol. I'm surprised Evina didn't do the same.

What you say may be true, but in the long hall, after starting and playing in 34 games still averaged 10.5 points per game, which was 3rd on the Lady vols team and ranked number 31 in the SEC, but also was number 1 in blocks at 3.5 per game and number 5 in the SEC in rebounds at 8.1 rebounds per game. A big part of our offense was second-chance points off of offensive rebounds and Tamari was the number 2 offensive rebounder in the SEC. Those second-chance points don't come if we don't get offensive rebounds. Say what you like, but she is much more valuable on the offensive end than all the naysayers want to believe. Not everyone has to put up 25 points a game to have a huge impact on offense. The attention Tamari draws alone in the paint opens up our perimeter players. Clean looks go away or don't even come at all if Tamari is not in there.

Lady Vols would be walking out of Knoxville with multiple degrees after six years. Sometimes after 4. We've had many, many Lady Vols get their undergrad degrees in 3. I believe Tennessee's educational support system is top notch.
