Transfer portal discussion

This might be a way off way of thinking but I'd be wary of any Texas A&M portal entry. Painting with a broad brush but it would appear they're all kids who simply went to the highest bidder, will be again looking for the highest bidder, and football/fit being second to them. Plus the disciplinary issues some of them had, I'd be wary of whether they would be culture fits. Texas A&M proved you can't win with a team full of mercenaries.

I'd target Wesley Walker/Dajon Terry types. Kids who excelled at lower level schools. Or if someone like a Turrentine who wanted to come home because he wasn't getting the opportunity at his initial school wanted in, I'd pursue (ahem - Dallen Haden). Spend the majority of NIL on our current roster.
I think you have a great point. I’ve known some people who played for bama in their prime and they said practice was harder than the games on Saturday. I’m of the philosophy get every elite athlete you can. Wether they earn playing time, buy in, fit , whatever you want to say…. They make the guys that do better because they have to beat them. Raw talent and God given ability can overcome a lot of scheme and technique deficiencies. Let the guys that want to dial it in have to beat out freak athletes. And if they end up working out, you have a guy like hooker or bru that are monsters.

I agree with your aTm take. But if just offer this caveat...I 'think' our culture and leadership structure are in very good shape, and if there's a guy the staff wants, I'd like to believe that could overcome any baggage that player brings with them.

I say that while acknowledging I don't think the staff would waste a lot of time if they didn't fit relatively quickly, a la LJ Dixon.

LA or KingNico one (can’t remember bc it was a while ago) said that we’ve stayed away from the guys who are only about the $$ and nothing else. Hope it stays that way.

This staff will evaluate closely I have no doubts. They seem to do a very good job overall there. GBO

Agreed. Or that we’re grading on a very steep curve.

If you’re bringing any kind of baggage at all - you better be electric on the field.

Denver harris 5 star db at Tex am entered portal

Curious to see if one of the 1st year coaches take him. He was suspended twice. Also posted a vid of him speeding through a parking garage. He doesn’t seem very mature. But the new guys need to make noise quick in this day and age of the portal.

Seems like one that Coach Prime would take a chance on. He is viewed as a mentor for these types of kids.

Deion has got to bring in an influx of talent in a hurry just to be competitive with anybody.

Harsin wasn’t killing it in recruiting either but you’re right again, Deion/Colorado makes a ton of sense.

So watch it be someone else other than these 2 lol.

If UT looks at a transfer QB……Jackson is gone
If it’s Card I wouldn’t be so sure of that. He could come in and play 1 season then potentially get drafted. Then Jackson and Nico compete for the starting job in 2024. I honestly think that’s the most ideal situation unless Milton shines in our bowl game or Jackson has a phenomenal spring and summer practice and wins the starting job. Nico has an unbelievably high ceiling, but not many true freshman QBs are successful in the SEC. Erik Ainge and Jalen Hurts and Tua to an extent are the only 2 I can think of off the top of my head. However the teams they played for had great defenses
