so in year 4 we are desperate for bodies and the best we can do is stop the existing roster from bleeding more. Thats not how you compete for championships. Believe me id rather have those guys then not, especially with how the portal is shaking out. But we are losing steam and that’s not good no matter what spin people want to throw on it.

WTH are you prattling on about? Every D1 teams prioritizes keeping the majority of its experienced players every year. So we should let our best, experienced players go to "compete for championships"? Losing steam? LMAO.

The only two players we've lost to the portal that I think could help us next year are Tyler Baron and Doneiko Slaughter (if they played him at safety instead of corner).

Well, two things...we don't have him (yet), and he isn't already on campus.

But yes, if we were to land him he'd be a similar player, I'd think, both in size and production.

Then wait till AT LEAST the early window closes before shedding tears and prognosticating inefficiencies in this area. We seem to be winning some big retention battles which will impact the mix too. Big O is a big win and if Cooper jumps back in, our need for Sr and grad transfers at those positions is reduced as well. I am SPECULATING that we have some DB’s that have not announced but have winked at our staff to explain lack of retention efforts at those positions, you know the high character type that don’t want to cut and run on current teammates for a bowl game. Seems CJH like.

You making excuses already I see. It’s not a good thing to see recruiting completely stalled in the closing hour. Doesn’t mean it won’t work out, also doesn’t mean it will. But we’ve seen what happens when you don’t fix roster issues and let recruiting slip. The contenders are not taking a day off on filing needs. Kentucky, who will get beat by us again, is filing needs asap. Why on earth are we not doing the same ? Ole miss is out there getting serious about trying to compete.

You’re lost again. Stabilizing the two experienced lines is more important that signing any portal player. That was their strategy. Notice that Alabama and Georgia have signed zero players and lost several. We have very few open slots, and value fit very highly. It will never be our staff’s tack to chase shiny things. They had a very good/slow developing portal season last year, and have done nothing to draw the questions or the angst of our resident knuckleheads. I think we’ll sign two to three players very soon, as we’re in the final stretch with key pieces. So put your turkey back in your turd sandwich and take a nap.

I have heard AP discuss this. He has said he doesn’t expect Walker to be back but you never know. GJL? He really didn’t know said it depends on if he wants to play again. It’s possible. Davis might come back and Indint remember him mentioning Lampley.
