No one is "up in arms" about anything except for people telling us that a man who "thinks and feels" he is a woman MUST be addressed that way or else worlds collide A LA "The Emperor wears no clothes" style or else they are a bigot hater.

If a guy comes up to me and says "i am a dog, you must recognize me as such", i do not judge his mental illness, but i don't have to pretend he's a dog to protect his delusion either

Nope but 10-15 years ago transgender was a mental disorder so who knows in another 10-15 years.

We live in a world where they call it a disease if you continually stick heroin in your arm, drink too much beer, if you bet the ponies too much or if you don't eat. Let me tell you, I can guarantee you 100% there is no way I'll ever come down with the disease of anorexia. There's no way anyone could ever give this disease to me. It's never happenin'...

This isn't meaningless. People could be posing as a woman when they really are men.

And if it is such a minor deal, why can't we leave things as they are?

I don’t really fit either category..... transgenders are messed up inside whether they transition or not.... the only time I really care is when it affects other people......kids..... sports..... things like that..

I'll use an example. Prostate cancer is not contagious but I may very well come down with it. This is in contrast to anorexia. There is absolutely no way I'll ever get that "disease". None.

Neither do I. People have that freedom which is all well in good. That’s not the same thing as the government implicitly endorsing it by official recognition. Who’s to say age won’t be the next immutable thing that some people feel should become flexible

Did you read the article you posted? The complainants stated that they were being harassed and threatened because their employer found out they were trans. They aren't asking to get free days off work. A solution might be to redact sex from the BC (as I think someone else stated). That would make more sense to me, but then again I don't care or have a say in what's on someone else's BC.

Or maybe it’s good to be upfront about such things. One confused person isn’t more important than everyone else.

If you must, make one's BC a privacy issue that employers don't have any right to access. That way of handling it would be preferable to changing an accurate gov't document

Mind you I’ve had the same employer for nearly 30 years but who request a BC as an employment document other than a government job or one covered by FARs. ( proof of citizenship) but a passport would then cover. If you’re in the closet about anything, you shouldn’t have a job that requires any kevel of security clearance....blackmail risk
