I think Luc and parents are more interested in making a social statement than playing golf. When I hit 60 did I move up to the gold tees in scrambles? You bet! Golf is one of the few sports that is "Handicapped" for participants benefits. You want to play from the blacks when everyone else is playing from the whites, have at it but don't complain to me when you lose. Luc can play with boys any time they agree to play, just not on the "boys" team....and BTW at 14 a girl probably has a physical advantage over a boy.....I suspect Luc doesn't want to play as a girl. He wants to play as a male. I think "he" should be allowed to do so. What do you think?
I see this as stupid. Playing as a girl, better chance to make state, win a scholarship, since the article implies there have been some developmental issues I suspect this child is being played....and if the parents are that concerned, move to a state that permits.

So would you let Luc play on the boys team?
Idk. I lean towards yes. Essentially the boys team is the A team in every sport. So it is more like can you legitimately make the A team.
But then all males are presumed to be relegated to only making the A team, they can’t go backwards and make the B team (girls team). So if you really like sports and are just a very un-athletic boy, you’re SOL?
Seems we are stretching too far to accommodate some fractional percentage of the population.
I think it's fair for the trans folks to ask that they be allowed to play on some team. We can't exclude them from all sports. But we definitely gotta protect the women's sports.
But if we gotta protect women's sports? Why is it not the same attitude for men’s. If you’re the last male to make they swim, golf, tennis, etc. team and then you get beat out by a trans, why is that not very athletic boy not worth protecting?
I want to be a one handicapper and be on the varsity but I'm not. Assuming you read the entire article this is about publicity. Luc doesn't have distance, no real short game, and previous coach doesn't support. Article implies it's because concerned about job security, but my real guess is Luc isn't that good. As the law permits, Luc can play on the girls team, assuming Luc's good enough. This is a family that has moved to TN, and now with the help of a national organization wants to sue our state to force their mores on us....and my guess is that i as a taxpayer will have some liberal judge that's handpicked for their lean, will make me pay for their legal fees whether they win or lose. If someone is more familiar, how long has this family lived in the area? Is this another "gay marriage" situation where three couples move into state, sue us to change a law, then move out and get divorced?I suspect Luc doesn't want to play as a girl. Can't us guys steer clear of the pity party and not claim victimhood? I sure hope so. If you're really worried about the last male to make the team, add an extra spot when a trans is involved. Legally speaking you'll play hell if you ban certain trans from playing in any sport. You're on much safer grounds making it about performance, not hormones
The law permits Luc to play on the girls team, if Luc fails a drug test, then Luc's disqualified. Does Luc want to play golf, or have a mustache? Luc need to understand that we make choices every day that allow us to do some things and prevent us from doing others.I'm looking at this more as an issue of Tennessee law. IMO you have to allow Luc to compete for either the male or female team. I say let him compete for the M team and if he sucks, as you suggest, tell him sorry, "you didn't make the team." But if he's taking male hormones I don't want him competing vs the girls. That should not be allowed
I think you have to choose between sports in a lot of these cases…. Guys are not allowed to play if they take the wrong cold medicine in some cases.I think it's fair for the trans folks to ask that they be allowed to play on some team. I would say because they are not the same. But if we gotta protect women's sports? Why is it not the same attitude for men’s. If you’re the last male to make they swim, golf, tennis, etc. team and then you get beat out by a trans, why is that not very athletic boy not worth protecting?
