Since everyone is mentioning Trooper as a possible replacement, I asked my Auburn buddies if they are still hearing what they were told a couple months ago.

What they were told was Malzahn wanted to keep TT but the school would not let him because he was going to be the fall guy for the current investigation into AU recruiting (remember them talking about him and Luper being taken off the recruiting trail?), well, apparently AU said everything was done independently by Trooper. They said there is a reason TT hasn't got a job but Luper has now and the rumor is TT might be looking at a show cause penalty in his future. They all expect him to try to get a NFL gig.

But, TN can hire him before any sanctions, IF the individual sanctions come (it is the ncaa ya know), you can get rid of him with no harm done, just put it in his contract of no XTRA towel waving while at TN.

He would be a good hire but I'm sure Butch will go after a younger coach for this position mainly because of the timing of the hire. He may go after NC State's RB coach it only makes sense to do so.

I have to think that if Butch was intersted in Trooper he would have offered him the recievers positions when he had the chance and chose not to.

You guys do realize we have a staff that doesn't have that it factor hire? Someone that will get recruits attention and let us recruit and compete with Alabama and FL. TT is it! This is what we need as of now. Not saying someone else could come in and do fine but this is by far the best choice. I'm tired of being at the bottom I don't know about you guys.

I'm sure the contract could be arranged to our benifit if anything goes down.

dude lettuce be real tea for one moment. not many asst. coaches good ones being the keyword are willing to come to UT right now. Troop would be. and he's probably the top one that would be willing to come. there are tons of great asst. coaches out there but none will be willing to come. trooper taylor go get em' butch.

Even if he was guilty of recruiting violations at AU? Do you trust him to walk the line here and not cause more instability?

I don't get the "win against all costs" mentality. Character has to count for something.

Exactly!!! If he goes off, they just pick a different school. They aren't the ones left picking up the pieces like this fanbase has had to do the last 5 years.

Yes, yes I do. He will be on thin ice he know's this. He will have his Career on the line if he messes up here. Plus. His son could play for us. That more than likely means he will be here for four years w/o jumping ships.

It does count for something. You got to weigh it all in though. You can't just take a guy because of good character in the SEC.

another story from the Auburn camp was that TT was cutting the OC's throat every chance he got and was telling recruits that he was gone at seasons end and this is why Gene pulled him off the trail.

no. but it's well known through the years of trooper being an asst. coach that he has been well liked by recruits. now it could be what he may be giving them or it could be that he's just a likable person. he sees other coaches playing and recruiting dirty and so he does and just happens to get caught (he's doing it wrong). 2 wrongs may not make a right but 3 lefts do. And if you think for one moment that most coaches don't play dirty when it comes to recruiting in someway or another than you really have pulled the wool over your eyes.

it isn't just me saying he's dirty, it's the NCAA and a program that purchased a BCSNC saying it.

you also fail the mention to turmoil he created at UT when he was jockeying for the OC position no one wants to give him

While UT needs an ace recruiter with SEC experience on this hire, TT is bad news. He's about one and one person only, TT.

Plus, he's a chest-bumping assclown.

so TT is the only one on that AU staff that bought the BCSNC. where TT has messed up before it's much easier for all the other coaches at AU to blame him.

yes. however what's done is done. you can't change the past. and he should have been given the opportunity to be OC anyways. i mean look who we ended up with as OC dave clawson. i mean it really couldn't have got any worse than clawson.
