Trump bullies the CDC and schools

I'm glad titansvolsfan is doing what he considers best for him (and his family and children), and does it. Just as I'm glad Justin you are doing what you think best.

So why can't we just agree to disagree, and just tolerate each other's views and ways of life instead of going at each other.......

As long as you do you, and don't tell/preach to other too much, and certainly don't try to change how the other is living, can't we all just get along and just get on with life......

Slap a high five from 6 feet away and call it a day.

That's exactly what I want, let everyone do what they feel is best for them and their families. We all should have the freedom to go out to dinner or shop just as well as some of the right to stay locked up at home.

Seemingly so simple......let people make their choices.

If the other side of the coin feels differently, and says well that's not civil or right for others, well, where does one man's rights end and the other begin.....and at what point when 2 sides can't just leave it alone, and one purposely starts to push and prod and try to bully or get submission, the only logical most inbred reaction in our DNA is fight or flight.

Any and every time anyone begins to push on to another, it is just a matter of time until one side begins to take honus and reacts.

If civility can reign, which means both sides equally must be of the same civility and some mutual respect, or at least toleration, then we can all get along.

The problem is emotion, and anyone not feeling that not wearing a mask is bad, unfortunately the reaction is emotional, fearful, self preservation, which the human mind makes that individual look out for themselves and theirs, that is the problem, it is taken as a personal afront, and umbrage is taken in regards to their ability to sustain and live their lives and the non mask weare is seen as a threat simply. Understandable.

So your kids are getting indoctrinated by far left commies both at school and at home. I don't care what you do with your kids, my point is teachers who aren't teaching shouldn't get paid

Do you also keep them home during the months from Oct-April? If not then you are not fully protecting them?

I can’t speak for other counties but when we went online we had to be online from 8-4 each day and available in the evenings for parents who worked late. Simply because we weren’t in a classroom doesn’t mean we weren’t working

My daughter teaches at a title IX school and only 7 or 8 kids in her class had access to a computer with internet. Her online classes started with 5 or 6 of them on regularly then it dwindled to 1 or 2 after a couple weeks. I'm positive that is more the rule than the exception so keeping kids out of school does immensely more harm to them than good.

Every student in our county either had a device or was given one to check out. Was participation 100%? No. But, it was generally the same students who didn’t work in class either. I would rather be in the classroom as well. It isn’t fun making 100 phone calls a week to discuss their students work for the week but if a staff member or student tests positive that school will be shut for 14 days which will put a greater strain on parents by not knowing what to expect from one week to the next

In Rutherford County as I understand it if the students got online and took the classes they got bumped a letter grade so the kids who had an A or B didn't even bother with it I would assume some with a C did the same.

It's the difference in the haves and the have nots and basically places like Nashville are telling the have nots "sorry about your bad luck".

I teach where the have nots live. Those schools generally have more technology depending upon what state you live in

Exactly... and for the love of God, enough of the smug attitudes and pretending to be superior whether you're following strict guidelines or you're 100% business as usual. Whether anybody wants to admit it or not, on some level we're all guessing here.

Did you read my response to kiddiedoc or can you read? Left/right has nothing to do with what's happening in Nashville. Do you live there?

Politics has everything to do with it. And in Nashville you can throw in the rush to gentrify even more of the city.

Has everything to do with politics, the mayor is a radical and deserves to be recalled. I live in Murfreesboro so I'm only about 40 min from downtown Nashville

Haven't seen any stories of outbreaks at daycares and you know if there were sick kids the media would be all over that.
place my kids go has been fine. Just instituted a mask policy for kids over 8 because of a city mandate.

County is opening up schools and one lady's comment compared the decision to "marching these kids to the gas chambers". It's crazy out there

Do you live in Nashville, Hog? And what does gentrification have to do COVID?

No, I live just outside of Nashville. I wouldn't live in Davidson County.

The massive property tax hike is a direct result of Covid, no way that get's passed without Covid and it will lead to even more gentrification. Nashville is and has been actively trying to dive out it's poor residents.

The biggest disappointment in the whole thing for me, is realizing just how fearful many are. And how that fear brings about delusion. I mean, I get it. But on the other hand, a person should be able to express rational concern without debasing themselves with ridiculous hyperbole.

My biggest disappointment out of it is realizing how much we will lose on the other side of this thing and how willingly people will give up almost anything out of fear or the promise to be kept safe . Before this is all over , ( imo ) the liberties we lost from 9/11 is going to pale in comparison.
