Per The Tennessean:

All Metro Nashville Public School students will start the academic year remotely as coronavirus cases continue to mount, Director of Schools Adrienne Battle told teachers and principals in a virtual meeting Thursday morning.

I would say "unbelievable," but the way Nashville has swung to the left, it's exactly what I expected. Why listen to science?

The effects this decision will have on the area's tens of thousands of school-aged children will be devastating.

It depends upon what grade you are talking about because a lot of curriculum is already online for Middle and High School students. The era of textbooks, paper, and pencil is over. Now, it is all web based. I can assure you students are and have been socializing outside of school

School is a refuge for many kids that have crap home lives. All the online schooling in the world wont be able to overcome these kids stuck at home "schooling".

Studies suggest the antibodies disappear. The study suggests people who experience mild symptoms do not have long-lasting protection.

What does the science suggest about the high mutation rate of the Coronavirus and children being infected twice ?

Nothing of the sort

So let me get this straight, kids don't infect adults, kids that get it usually only have mild symptoms, correct? So you don't think it's possible for that to change? OK, Doc
So we need to plan around what COULD happen? If we worry about everything that could happen, there won't be a lot of living going on.

I try to PLAN around what COULD happen, Don't you? There are too many unknowns about this virus to make comprehensive plans to combat it. Kids need to be in school if it's safe to do so. I hope what Doc said holds true over time.

Uh, yeah, that's exactly what the world data from 6 months has clearly demonstrated.

Where do you live, kiddiedoc? Nashville has been hit very hard with the coronavirus. if you are not aware.

Since the beginning of the outbreak. Metro has been advised by Dr. William Shaffner, a VU professor and one of the nation's foremost infectious disease and preventative medicine doctors. He has been asked to advise corporations and the fed and state governments on COVID. If he thinks schools need to be delayed in Nashville, I trust his judgment.

COVID decision making based on science is not a left/right political choice.

One can "suggest" just about anything one wants. The fear that the media and left have drummed up on this is criminal.

The problem is very few Covid decisions are being made based on science.

I would propose this
Any school that doesn't want to open, fine
No teacher, no one in administration and no democrat teacher unions get paid
The money that is allotted per student gets returned to the parent who is struggling to figure out how they can work and home school their kids
I work from home and home school my kids just fine. Justin you talk like someone who does not have kids. My job as a father is to protect my kids. I will not send them to school in the middle of a pandemic.

And somehow a lot of people believe that every choice is a binary, all in decision based on what team they perceive themselves to be on and what news channel they watch.

This couldn't be more true. I was watching CNN this morning for about 30 minutes, I came away convinced we're all going to die if we don't shut everything down and Trump is senile.

So your kids are getting indoctrinated by far left commies both at school and at home. I don't care what you do with your kids, my point is teachers who aren't teaching shouldn't get paid

Do you also keep them home during the months from Oct-April? If not then you are not fully protecting them?

You know what else is devastating for kids....losing a parent or grandparent because the kid infected them. Also, getting shot in school is also devastating. Use that same energy to change gun laws.

I kept them at home when it was unsafe for them to go to school. Teachers are salary and they facilitate class on line.
Justin, for the sake of humanity, please don't procreate. Just keep putting it into a sock or tissue. Save us all the trouble of having to deal with your offspring.

So you keep your kids home every year from Oct-April? On line learning is not nearly as effective and that's a fact so no they should not receive full pay. This is simply a shake down by the teachers unions trying to get more funds for their left wing loony members. You need me to have kids so they can pay for your kids to live off the government
