Funny that even Mel Brooks said he could never make that movie today.
One more because it's one of the greatest comedies of all time.
We're losing something very valuable here.
All in the Family probably couldn't be made today.
It would have to be animated (for some reason that takes away the edge). "Family Guy" is heavily influenced by "All in the Family". Peter Griffin is Archie Bunker on steroids.
Parker and Stone of "South Park" have referred to Cartman as Archie's illegitimate grandson.
The difference is context.
Blazing Saddles is poking fun at racial stereotypes. All in the Family is poking fun at people in the 70s who were clinging to racial stereotypes just as the young generation was making the biggest strides in our history to overcome them.
South Park is making fun of all of it.
None of that discussion of racial stereotypes was done in a mean-spirited or degrading fashion. Barr tweeting that VJ looked like she had been parented by an ape and a Muslim is not offered in that context. Barr's incredibly lame claim later that it was a bad joke is belied by the context of the rest of it and her tweets of late that are increasingly vitriolic.
The examples you cite are funny because they make fun either of racism or political correctness about racism. Barr's tweet is not remotely the same.
That's very common, especially among teammates in sports. Brian Piccolo and Gale Sayers is a good example and their friendship was at the height of the civil rights movement.
In terms of race relations, Trump is absolutely the worst possible President to have at this time because he is so serious all the time. There is no sense of humor or a lightening of the mood. He stokes fear and resentment on one side and anger on the other while exploiting the divide.
She was fired for one reason, liking the President and second saying something controversial. If she hated the President and bashed him non stop on the show and made a similar statement about Condi Rice or Ben Carson the show would still be on today and there would not have been a crying fest on twitter yesterday.
Yes, ABC greenlighted and paid for the project and renewed it for a second season, but were upset that they would make money off it.ABC was disappointed in the popularity of the show, looking for a way to cancel (taking liberal heat). Rosanne handed him the opportunity. If it had been a popular liberal show no one would have been fired.

Do you actually think about what you're saying prior to hitting submit
Sure it's easy for me to say. You make it OK based on how it may or may not be received? OK. I'm a preacher. I make it not OK based on intent. I thought my post made that pretty clear.
And for the record, you sound pretty racist, insinuating that black people have thinner skin than white people. I guess it's OK to degrade the skin of other races if it's not about color, but thinness?
Nothing could be further from the truth. There was only one segment that felt Obama was a divider. You happen to fit into that demographic.
Dinkmeister bringing the troof!:rock::rock::rock:Luther, this simply isn't true. One can objectively say that Obama united a specific socioeconomic group and certain philosophically kindred groups, but he definitely alienated a huge chunk. That alienation, in my opinion, is why the current Dickturd in Chief is where he is.
