Hope Hicks Told President That Trump Jr.'s Emails ‘Will Never Get Out’: Report | HuffPost

In an upcoming interview with special counsel Robert Mueller, a former spokesman for President Donald Trump’s legal team is expected to allege that White House Communications Director Hope Hicks wanted to prevent the release of emails in which the president's son sought dirt on Hillary Clinton.

Apparently she said this on a conference call with the Donald on the line. Of course he was on Twitter and distracted.

At some point, the next straw will have to be the one that breaks the camel's back.

We should release the memo so we can find out what is in it

I'm all for more transparency in government, but if this is as bad as it's being made out to be, it could really cripple our intelligence-gathering abilities, and that will only make it tougher to protect the country from terrorism and the like. This isn't just about Trump. This potentially impacts the entire foreign intelligence system.

Oh please!

It's better to do a little house cleaning than let the rats run amok in fear opening the door will let someone in.

We'll see. If we have a terrorist attack down the road that could have potentially been thwarted by a well-executed FISA warrant, you may be singing a different tune. I don't think everyone grasps the potential impact of pulling back the curtain here. Honestly, if there are abuses, I'd rather they be handled internally. The motivation behind this isn't as much to clean up the system as to provide cover for Trump. That's pretty obvious. It's why even his own hand-picked FBI director has reservations.

The FBI has leaked more classified information than this directly to the public through the news media. Hillary mis-handled more classified data than this and stored it on Weiners telephone, but now suddenly everyone is worried about classified data getting out. Spare me!

Who's going to handle them? If the intelligence community doesn't have to be transparent with congress just who the hell is going to police them?

Bureaucracies are always going to protect themselves.

FISA warrants ARE NOT LEGAL

1) in the United States
2) for targeting US Citizens

Who are the people alleging abuses? There's your answer. You think airing the dirty laundry to the public and the rest of the world is going to change what they may or may not do? Are you personally going to police them? Do you have such constitutional powers? Who else outside of the government is going to police them? I'm honestly interested to know. This is only going to embarrass the country and make our intelligence gathering less effective.

Why do we all need to have data saved for them to look thru at their leisure. Its unconstitutional. Come up with another way to spy on potential terrorists. Its obvious who they need to spy on, oh but singling out and spying on a certain group would be unconstitutional? I get it, lets just spy on everyone then no one can complain. Is this the logic for saving all of my phone records?

The Trump campaign was spied on in the United States.

From what has been leaked thus far, the scenario appears to be that Russian operatives, such as Kislyak, were being spied on under FISA warrant. Those operatives were interacting with US citizens, like Manafort. Some of those folks then were brought into the Trump campaign, so more US citizens, including Trump, were caught up in the surveillance.

The question is, and this may or may not be answered by the Nunes memo, did the intelligence community overstep their bounds and somehow obtain a FISA warrant on a US citizen. That would, indeed, be illegal. Incidental surveillance of a US citizen while he or she is interacting with a foreign operative who is under a legal FISA warrant is not illegal. Neither is the unmasking of that citizen by appropriate government employees. What is illegal is the leaking of such information outside of the intelligence service, which pretty clearly occurred.
