"Barry" did eventually release the long-form version of his birth certificate and it was Donald Trump who was pushing for it. How ironic. I guess Trump's insistence on transparency doesn't apply to himself?

I remember Trump calling for them for years. Kept promising big things and never delivered.

Transcripts are even less important than taxes

I remember Donald Trump persistently prodding Barack Obama to come up with his birth certificate and I also remember Obama going on The Oprah Winfrey Show and actually doing it.

... and what is with that "Pepperidge Farm" bs? That is lame.

Why are you using the word "eventually" instead of 2011, more than 4 years after he was a candidate?

It was done... and it was done of his own free will and largely because none other than Donald Trump was making a big deal out of it. But I guess transparency is just for other people to abide by, right Donald?

Donald Trump was bringing up the subject of Barack Obama's birth certificate during his frequent interviews on Fox News in 2011, and Trump was also tweeting about it regularly. Barack Obama's birth certificate was very much Trump's obsession in 2011. Trump even said that he had hired private investigators to look into Obama's place of birth. Trump even went as far as to say that these investigators "can't believe what they're finding," in Hawaii. Trump even teased that he would be holding a press conference to disclose what his investigators had uncovered "in two weeks". Alas, no such press conference was ever held.

It's not like Barack Obama was asked to present his birth certificate on the first day of his campaign in 2007. "Birther-ism" didn't become a hot-button topic until Donald Trump started aggressively promoting it on Fox News talk shows and on Twitter in 2011. Shortly after that, Barack Obama went on The Oprah Winfrey Show and presented the long-form version of his birth certificate.

Did Donald Trump ever hold his press conference to reveal what his investigators had uncovered in Hawaii? Nope.

Request that was demanded as part of determining eligibility to be president, although idiotic. Now tax returns that have nothing to do with anything, again idiotic but does not pertain to presidency.

There is a constitutional requirement that presidents be natural, U.S. born citizens. There is no requirement to make tax filings public.
That clarifies things a bit.

There was nothing other than Trump's own conspiracy theories to indicate that Obama hadn't been born in Hawaii, as he had said. Once again, I guess transparency is only important to Trump when it involves other people, right?

And what about that press conference Trump was going to hold? You know, the one where Trump was going to reveal what his private investigators had uncovered in Hawaii about Barack Obama's place of birth? Trump said that it would be coming "in two weeks", but curiously, it never came about. I wonder why? He wasn't full of crap, was he? Certainly not.
