TrumPutinGate

Wait....are you not the one saying that you do not see collusion or criminal activity......I have never seen AV post that he is for criminal activity.....Trump OR Billary.....

I don't see solid evidence of criminality. I do see evidence of lies and deception. That is a political staple.

My comment was simply directed to anyone (AV in this case) that mentions hypocrisy of those attacking Trump today for lies, but who were willing to overlook Hillary's lies. It is a two way street because those who were most on Hillary for lying are willing to overlook Trump's lies.

I know that he's lying. That in and of itself doesn't prove a criminal act. Again, I haven't seen any evidence that the information (if there was any exchanged) was illegally obtained. If someone calls and says that they have connections to a foreign government and through those connections they learned some damning stuff about your opponent... I think most people meet with them.

More may come out. Was anything received? What did Trump do with it? How was that evidence obtained? etc etc etc.

Not with a foreign government! You call the FBI immediately..

Why? It wasn't the foreign government, it was someone that had obtained information. I don't see them giving up anything in trade. Getting information doesn't equal treason.

Now, if they received anything, they should have just turned it over to the FBI and made a big deal of it. The fact that they only come forward when a journalist threatens to out them is telling.

The Trumps are shady folks, but I imagine they are not leaving much in the way of solid evidence. We've had shady guys in the WH forever.

Double edged sword you are wielding there. You certainly screeched loudly about Hillary missteps, but now are perfectly willing to look a blind eye at trump.

No sirree, Trump hasn't committed any crimes as of yet. On the other hand, Hillary has and skated. Now when or if the actual proof comes out he has, I will call a spade a spade.

Typical Trump spin. The emails show some shady stuff going on. I don't think that they are criminal, but to claim vindication based upon the emails is Trumpesque.

If I recall, this guy was actually a Republican Never-Trumper FWIW

On the facts, he's not wrong... the rest is just a matter of opinion

You are at least half right. I'm not convinced it wasn't criminal. I do agree that IF THIS IS ALL THERE IS (a huge if) then I doubt anyone would bother with a prosecution.

But that is not the test, as much as the Trump people want it to be.

I am not convinced there was nothing criminal, but I haven't seen anything that really indicates that there was any criminality. There is a difference between being shady and being criminal. I don't think that being proven shady is anything to brag about.

I think that in the trump camp - putting it out first equates to and will come with claims of vindication.

Fact is, the NYT was about to drop it.

Bozo's should have just claimed it was fake news like everything else.

Curious if anyone thinks the Clinton campaign would turn down compromising info on Trump from Russia?

I'm sure they'd be smarter about how they arranged to access the information but pretty sure they'd lap it up.

Of course they would. Everyone knows the DNC is as pure as the driven snow.

It was the Russian government.

Another Republican operative, Stuart Stevens, drew comparisons to an episode during the 2000 presidential race between Al Gore and George W Bush.
"When Gore campaign was sent Bush debate brief book, they called FBI," he tweeted. "If foreign interests offer you info on former [secretary of state], you call the FBI."

Once they got the information a suicide epidemic would break out. Anyone with knowledge would shoot themselves in the head multiple times.

This was lifted from the text of the Logan Act:

Any citizen of the United States, wherever he may be, who, without authority of the United States, directly or indirectly commences or carries on any correspondence or intercourse with any foreign government or any officer or agent thereof, with intent to influence the measures or conduct of any foreign government or of any officer or agent thereof, in relation to any disputes or controversies with the United States, or to defeat the measures of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.

Just how many people have been even charged under this statute?
