TrumPutinGate

You weren't wrong. You just omitted some very pertinent information. Obama fired Flynn in 2014 and he also warned Trump against hiring him after the election last year (nobody in the White House has ever denied that including Trump).

I omitted very pertinent information?

You didn't even mention him being a part of the Obama admin for years. Think he was squeaky clean then?

Fyp

Which by the way is not illegal or wrong in any way.

To which I would say, refer back to my subsequent question. Why has there been such dishonesty about contact w/ Russians? Why did it take Mueller's committee and a plea deal to get Flynn to admit that Trump's team asked him to contact Russians?

No but once again, Obama fired him. Flynn obviously has some serious integrity issues and quite frankly, is getting a sweet deal here. Flynn was on the payroll for Kaspersky Lab in the fall of 2014 and 2015 after being fired as the Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency in 2014. Kaspersky products were flagged in 2004 by that very same agency which Flynn later directed for being a conduit for Russian spying. Factor in all of his undisclosed ties to Turkey and other undisclosed payments from Russia and espionage would not have been out of the question. Flynn had conflicts of interest all over the map... yet, Trump hired him as National Security Adviser. Unreal.

unreal that our government still used Kaspersky until a year or so ago if there was such an issue.

Can't argue with what you said.. just think it's unfair to not point out his ties to Obama even if he did fire him.

It's weird that Obama appointed him to assistant director of national intelligence and then appoints him to director of the DIA without ever meeting him in person. Even Flynn was quoted as finding it odd.

Why and how was Flynn able to get away with his doings for so long? Not just during the Trump time.

Reading some of you trying to minimize this is downright hilarious. It's more than just lying. The man was having meetings during the transition, directed by either Trump or somebody right below him, to change American foreign policy. It's not the end of it for Trump, but it's getting really close.

Trump apologists can no longer call this a "made up story", a "hoax" or "fake news". The Mueller investigation has now yielded a felony conviction of someone who was a member of both the Trump campaign and the Trump administration. I think Kushner goes in the cross hairs next. This is just the beginning. The decision to hire Flynn as National Security Adviser was beyond stupid. Trump had many red flags on him.

As I said months ago, Muller will end up charging some people with things completely unrelated to the campaign to justify his witch hunt.

Flynn has pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about his contacts with Russian ambassador Kislyak. It was after the election but this isn't necessarily unrelated to the Trump campaign's alleged collusion with Russia.

...and it's time to let pejorative terms like "witch hunt" go. Flynn pleaded guilty to a felony and is cooperating with the investigation now. The worm has turned.

Oh boy, you’ve got him now.

Oh boy, you’ve got him now.

Even this old fall back line isn't quite so cute anymore.

FACT: Trump's first National Security Adviser and a high profile member of his campaign who prominently spoke at the Republican National Convention in July of 2016 is now a convicted felon who lied to the FBI about his contacts with a Russian ambassador.

Who else has lied to the FBI? nothing happened.
Who else has talked to the Russian Ambassador? nothing happened.

Don't even act like Flynn is the only one. This is nothing more than a witch hunt.

...and yet here Flynn is prepared to make a statement admitting that Trump told him to contact Russia.

You mean to tell me a member of President Elect's transition team contacted a foreign government representative? Hold the phone, isn't that a crime? Treason? It MUST be unprecedented right?

Has that never happened before?

Consider the below facts. These are objectively true. They are not opinion, they are undeniable fact.

1) Flynn was fired by Obama.

2) Flynn was with Trump as his main national security guy during the campaign.

3) when Trump won and met Obama, Obama told him not to hire Flynn.

4) Trump hired Flynn.

5) Flynn was interviewed by the FBI while in the White House. During that interview, he was asked whether he had conversations with Russians. He lied and denied it.

6) Yates told the Trump team that Flynn had lied.

7) Yates got fired at that point, not Flynn.

8) Flynn wasn't fired until almost three weeks later, and only when the Washington Post found out about the lies. The claim it was because he had lied to Pence was a cover for the real reason -- lying to the FBI.

9) Trump tried to get Comey to stop investigating Flynn.

10) Comey refused Trump's request. And got fired for it.

11) Trump has repeatedly tried to get Congresspersons to step in and stop the investigations.

12) Trump said over and over again, no contacts with Russia and his campaign. He knows, and knew when he said it, that was not true.

13) News broke of the June meeting at Trump Tower. Trump himself worked on the statement that it was about adoption. That was a lie.

14) Now we find out that Flynn talked with the Russians about the Trump administration undoing sanctions on Russia.

15) Now we find out that Kushner was directing Flynn, prior to taking office, in that and delaying a resolution at the U.N..

16) Trump then tweeted about how pleased he was with the Russian vote on it

17) Trump continues to resist imposing the sanctions on Russia.

Two things:

First, Flynn is now obliged to meet with Mueller again. No lawyers. He cannot refuse to answer questions. If he lies, the plea agreement is off and he goes to prison for a long time.

Two, why did he lie originally and why has Trump tries to shield him so much?

I think Flynn could break this wide open. You really think it was Kushner who came up with the idea to have Flynn call the Russians about that vote? Come on. That came from the top, with Trump's assent. Flynn can bury Trump. And likely will.

Careful, you're going to throw your fapping arm out on PG13 material.

This timeline is damning for Trump:

January 24th: Michael Flynn lies to the FBI about his contact with Kislyak.

January 26th: US Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates warns the White House that Flynn has been "compromised".

January 27th: Trump responds not by firing Flynn, but asking James Comey for a loyalty pledge.

January 30th: Sally Yates is fired.

Is there actual proof about #3? There’s no witnesses. When does Mueller question Obama about this conversation?

“[Their contact with Russia] was very unusual. Whether it breaks the law or not, I think that’s probably a stretch,” Panetta predicted.

Why lie to the FBI then?

Is this what he was lying about?

Sean Spicer and various White House reps have been asked about whether or not Obama advised Trump against hiring Michael Flynn many times over the last 9 months and nobody in the White House has ever denied that it's true - including Donald Trump. They have postured a defense along the lines of "Well, they were political rivals, and Flynn has been openly critical of Obama so it's to be expected that Obama wouldn't want to see Flynn hired." Of course, I'm paraphrasing here and to my knowledge there is no audio recording of the conversation if that's what you're talking about. But we know that either Trump or Sarah Huckabee Sanders would be shouting a denial at the top of their lungs if this claim wasn't true. Trump would have long since denied it on Twitter even.

Oh so Trump is scared to tweet that Obama is a liar.
