What? Read that post again. I said that if the claim wasn't true that Obama had advised Trump against hiring Michael Flynn, Donald Trump WOULD DEFINITELY DENY THAT OBAMA WARNED HIM AGAINST HIRING FLYNN (and call Obama a liar). Of course, he would call Obama a liar if it wasn't true. That's why I'm saying that it is true. Nobody in the White House including Trump has denied it despite having been asked about it numerous times since Flynn was fired as National Security Adviser on February 14th.

UPDATE - It's a biggie, too. Here's a major "clarification" from ABC News, finally posted hours after their inaccurate report was shared far and wide. They meant to say this all happened after Trump was elected, not while he was a candidate. That is not exculpatory unto itself, per se (we don't know what Flynn may or may not be sharing with Mueller), but it's a significant walk-back. I go into more analysis why below. Post-election contacts with foreign governments on the part of a presidential transition team is not abnormal in the least. Why did Flynn lie to the FBI about it, then? Good question. We haven't heard the last of this, obviously. But if the central allegation is that the Trump campaign colluded with Moscow to impact the US election outcome, some behind-the-scenes discussions initiated after voters made their decision ain't a smoking gun.

There may be more trouble ahead for Team Trump, but this looks far less bad than it did a few hours ago. With faith in the press in crisis, these bad errors don't help close the credibility gap, particularly among people who already believe the media is out to get Trump. It took ABC far too long to fix this mistake, especially since other news organizations were reporting accurately on this timeframe issue (again, see below). And blaming it on one source misspeaking suggests that they didn't have a corroborating second source -- a journalistic best practice -- who could have cleared up the mistake before it was put on-air and online:

The timing is less important than the fact that Trump was working through Flynn to undo the sanctions in return for their help in getting him elected.

The real problem for Trump is that he has, on many occasions, tried to thwart the investigation. It's the obstruction that is going to be his downfall.

Correct me if I'm wrong but at this point any deal Flynn may have made would require him to tell all he knows without holding anything back. Even if Donnie pardons Flynn Mueller probably knows everything Flynn knows.

Why should Trump fire someone who appears to have found no evidence that he “colluded” with Russians which isn’t illegal, to influence the outcome of the election? The FBI has spent more than a year investigating the matter, yet seems to have come up empty-handed.

Besides, it’s the media that’s pushing this phony impeachment and the sheep are following.

I thought part of the deal is a future meeting, no lawyers, no declining to answer, as a condition of a plea deal.

If Trump pardons him, I'm thinking he can stay mum.

You call a felony conviction against a Trump campaign surrogate and cabinet member coming up "empty handed"? SMH. And look, this isn't over. Not by a long shot. Let's see what Flynn has to say. There certainly is plenty of evidence that members of the Trump campaign were in contact with members of the Russian government during the campaign (June 9, 2016 meeting at Trump Tower ring a bell?). There is also plenty of evidence that lies have been told to cover these contacts up. Trump sure wanted James Comey to drop his investigation into Michael Flynn didn't he? Obstruction of justice, anyone?.. not to mention the fact that Donald Trump Jr has acknowledged contact with wikiLeaks in 2016.

Anyone thinking anything will lead back to trump didn’t pay attention during the Clinton, Bush, Obama years. Someone will get in some Trouble. It won’t be Trump, Obama, Bush, or either Clinton.

Muller will leave office in disgrace and facing disbarment way before Trump finishes his term.

There will not be any impeachment.
