TrumPutinGate

What if you were paying attention during the Nixon years? And I'm not sure if you're making a good point anyway. After all, Clinton was impeached.

And what did Clintons impeachment amount too?
Nixon is ancient history. This is a much different world now. And too be fair if Nixon had acted like our current politicians then he would have never left office. Probably been re-elected too

Muller will leave office in disgrace and facing disbarment way before Trump finishes his term.

There will not be any impeachment.

And if there is so what?
If we learned nothing else from the Clinton years impeachment means absolutely nothing

Anyone thinking anything will lead back to trump didn’t pay attention during the Clinton, Bush, Obama years. Someone will get in some Trouble. It won’t be Trump, Obama, Bush, or either Clinton.

This thing is just more wagging the dog

It has already led back to Trump in the way he has tried to obstruct justice.

It doesn't sound like you're well versed in everything Nixon was guilty of. If a politician used his campaign contributions to pay hush money (like Nixon did to Howard Hunt)... yes, he would still be removed from office.

I agree that if the Republicans had backed their President, he wouldn't have left office. I will disagree that he would have been re-elected, however. That was his 2nd term, so he couldn't have run again. I know you know that, but...........

That wasn't politically viable for them once the tapes were released.

Yeah? When’s Conyer getting the boot?

There is no evidence of obstruction. Yates was going to be canned regardless and Comey should have been fired day 1.

You got nuffin buddy.

Hmmm.... Interesting take.

A quick look of the timeline shows...

January 24: Flynn lies to FBI

January 26: Yates visits White House and tells lawyer Don McGahn that Flynn has been 'compromised' and may be subject to blackmail

January 27: Trump does not fire Flynn and but instead asks Comey for a loyalty pledge

January 30: Yates fired... Flynn still NSA

February 9: The Washington Post reports Flynn discussed sanctions in phone calls with Kislyak which contradicts previous assertions by Mike Pence. Flynn is still NSA.

February 10: Trump is asked about the report in the Washington Post and suggests it's news to him that Flynn had discussed sanctions with Kislyak... "I don't know about that. I haven't seen it. What report is that? I haven't seen that. I'll look into that." - An obvious lie. Yates told his lawyer (McGahn) about this two weeks earlier. Flynn is still NSA.

February 13: The Washington Post reports that the White House had known for weeks that Flynn had lied about the nature of his calls with Kislyak. Flynn is forced to resign within hours after that article is posted.

February 14: In an Oval office meeting, Trump asks Comey to end the investigation of Flynn, according to Comey.

That's Valentine's Day. That's all it is.

Just consider this (and try to be objective for a moment, I know it's hard)... On February 14th, Donald Trump knew damn well that Michael Flynn had lied to the FBI (a felony). Yet, he asked the FBI Director to end his investigation into Michael Flynn.

He fired Comey to protect him and himself.

If Clinton had won and Comey started investigating emails, and she fired him to stop it, you'd be screaming at the top of your lungs.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions refused to answer questions on Thursday during a closed congressional hearing about whether President Donald Trump ever instructed him to hinder the Justice Department’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.

The forgotten player. I think they charge him next. I think it will come out that the Russians have something on him. Being from Alabama I would say a hard drive full of child porn.

After Clinton it’s cute that you still think that he’d be removed if he didn’t go willingly

My comment was more about how fickle the mob is

Nixon? Hell yes he would have been removed. Has nothing to do with lying about banging an intern. Nixon obstructed justice, authorized a police state, abused his power through the misuse of a federal agency and used campaign funds as hush money. AND FULLY INCRIMINATED HIMSELF ON TAPE!

By August of 1974 it was no longer a politically viable option for Republicans to defend him. Even Barry Goldwater had turned against him.

Lol according to Comey.

The same Comey that lied under oath? And you believe him?

When did Comey lie under oath? Yes, I trust his word more than that of Donald Trump's. That is modest praise, I know.

There is no way around the fact that Trump was lying on February 10th when he said he was unaware that Flynn had discussed sanctions with Kislyak and lied to the FBI about it. Sally Yates had told Don McGahn that very thing on January 26th. Flynn wasn't fired until after the Washington Post report on February 13th which detailed Yates' visit to the White House.

Just saying Clinton would have survived the scandal if it was him instead of Nixon.

Per a tweet, Trump now claims that he fired Michael Flynn because he also lied to the FBI. He has never claimed this before. If that is true, why didn't he fire Flynn on January 26th after Sally Yates advised White House lawyer Don McGahn of that? And more importantly, why did Trump ask Comey to drop the investigation into Flynn on February 14th ("Can you just let this investigation with Flynn go? He is a good guy.")? Trump also said back in February that firing Flynn may have been a mistake.

Trump just opened up a whole new can of worms with that tweet.

Come on LG, if he wanted to he could fire Muller, hell he could fire the AG and appoint one that will close Muller down.

Nope, I wouldn’t. I was expecting Clinton to win and her fire Comey immediately and no investigation conducted.
