ABC News announced Saturday that Chief Investigative Correspondent Brian Ross had been suspended for four weeks without pay over a botched "exclusive" about former national security adviser Michael Flynn.

Ross' suspension is effective immediately. ABC News spokeswoman Heather Riley would not comment on whether anyone else had been suspended in connection with the error.

During a live "special report" Friday morning, Ross reported that Flynn would testify that Donald Trump had ordered him to make contact with Russians about foreign policy while Trump was still a candidate. The report raised the specter of Trump's impeachment and sent the stock market plummeting.

Later in the day, ABC News -- part of the reliably liberal Disney ABC Television Network -- issued a "clarification" to Ross's report, saying that Trump's alleged directive came after he'd been elected president. That's a key distinction in any investigation of Russian actions during the campaign. Ross himself appeared on "World News Tonight" several hours after the initial report to clarify his error.

In a statement, ABC News said Ross' report "had not been fully vetted through our editorial standards process."

So now trumps lawyers are claiming Trump doesn't even write his own tweets anymore - and seem to suggest he doesn't even review them before they're sent.

Dotardism on autopilot... and right over a cliff.

Trump's lawyer says he was behind @realDonaldTrump tweet about firing Flynn - CNNPolitics

I don't believe a word of that either. That tweet was very consistent with how Trump talks and with how his tweets are typically constructed right down to the exclamation point at the very end. No attorney worthy of representing the President of the United States would ever make such a clumsy statement from their client's own Twitter account. That would be unprofessional. This is John Dowd covering for Trump with a lie.

No doubt.

Mueller's investigation is ratcheting up the pressure on Bone Spur, and he's coming undone.

...and can you imagine Trump even allowing ANYONE else to send a message from his Twitter account? He is way too protective of his things, insecure and egotistical to ever go for that. Trump believes and will always believe that he is his own best spokesperson. He and he alone knows what is best for him.

What do you think comes first, the insane asylum or impeachment?

I think the most likely scenario is he resigns and they try to protect Pence to hang on to the WH. Already there are problems looming for him as it would appear he knew of the pre-inauguration orders to Flynn to reach out to the Russians on sanctions and the U.N. resolution.

If that is proven, then he'd have trouble taking over. He has already lied about it publicly. Could get worse if he has lied in any official documentation.

Ask yourself why we've seen neither hide nor hair of him for months.

The thing about it, is that Trump's tweet that Flynn had no reason to lie to the FBI about his contacts with Kislyak is sort of true. The Logan Act is literally never enforced. As a former Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, Flynn had to know that Kislyak was under tight surveillance by our intelligence agencies. Flynn also must have known that it's a felony to lie to the FBI and as a General he is obviously a very smart person. So why did he do it? There has to be more to this that we don't know yet.

More to it? Like Donnie saying please don't release the pee tapes and I'll get the sanctions taken care of.

On a lighter note the white house Christmas decorations are up and look great. When is the fashion show?

Jared Kushner failed to disclose his role as a co-director of the Charles and Seryl Kushner Foundation from 2006 to 2015, a time when the group funded an Israeli settlement considered to be illegal under international law, on financial records he filed with the Office of Government Ethics earlier this year.

The latest development follows reports on Friday indicating the White House senior adviser attempted to sway a United Nations Security Council vote against an anti-settlement resolution passed just before Donald Trump took office, which condemned the structure of West Bank settlements. The failure to disclose his role in the foundation—at a time when he was being tasked with serving as the president’s Middle East peace envoy—follows a pattern of egregious omissions that would bar any other official from continuing to serve in the West Wing

So, Hillary still has a chance to take over?

So a second person now suggests that trumps lawyer (Dowd) sent the Tweet admitting obstruction, and that second person calls trumps lawyer "sloppy" (translation: honest).

Want to make your head spin? Try understanding the following rationalization that Trump didn't know Flynn was a liar. LOL

"The apparent admission made in the president's tweet -- that he knew Flynn had lied to the FBI at the time of his firing -- would seem to add a potentially explosive new dimension to the ongoing special counsel investigation.

If true, why then would Trump ask the FBI director to go easy on Flynn, as former FBI Director James Comey later testified? The message set off renewed talk of potential evidence of obstruction of justice.

While Dowd concedes that Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates informed White House Counsel Don McGahn in January following Flynn's interview with the FBI that "the agents were told the same thing the Vice President was told," he maintains that the president did not know Flynn had lied to the FBI because the Department of Justice did not characterize Flynn as having lied.

"The FBI and Yates and the Department of Justice did not accuse Flynn of lying despite the fact that he lied to the agents, but nobody was accused of it, so the president didn't know about it," Dowd said.

"All the president knew was that the department was not accusing him of lying," Dowd later added."

Regarding potential Trump collusion with Russia, I think the following article is probably spot-on... as in, Muellers charging Flynn solely with lying indicates no collusion occurred. Having said that, the obstruction case still exists, but I think this then will eventually become purely a political issue, with impeachment only an option on the House side (i.e. no actual impeachment will occur).

In sum, I think Trump ain't going down. He's an ass clown, and I still hate his guts, but this investigation needs to wrap up and be done with.

Caveat: If Mueller is secretly investigating trumps businesses, then this is a whole different ball of wax, and all bets are off. This is possible, and given trumps threat to fire Mueller if he starts investigate his business, it would be plausible for Mueller to keep it under wraps. But this is pure speculation and conspiracy.

Fly along now Donald and try to play nice.

Flynn can still be charged with other crimes. I'm sure they would like you to believe that is the high crime of the investigation. PS National review.

Collusion is not a crime, obstruction of justice is a crime. Trump did both, it's obvious. Given the irrational loyalty of Trump's 35% base within the Republican party, however, I too doubt that a Republican Congress would ever have the nerve to do the right thing with him.
