Some dude being interviewed on ESPNEWS just rattled off names like Rick Barnes, Billy Gillispie, and Tim Floyd.

Tim Floyd would be dumb to leave with Mayo going to USC. Bill Self doesn't scare me for some reason

I am really getting sick of hearing about Pearl leaving! He isn't going anywhere especially Kentucky

untill hamilton is willing to pay him more than the 1.1mil he is making right now. his name will always pop up with speculation.

there was a good article on espn yesterday saying how much of a head case mayo is. he wouldn't even give floyd his phone number. it also sounds like floyd doesn't sound to happy to be coaching him anyway. they were also discussing it on around the horn.

...the jist of that was that UK will go after a big name guy, not that that would be a surprise or anything.

Win-win for Tubby. He doesn't lose face, as he's a very proud man. He gets a soft landing, UK gets out gracefully.

Now we'll see how good an AD Mr. Barnhart is, won't we?

good point if he makes a bad hire it won't be long till he will be looking for a job.

Personally, I think Mitch will make a "swing for the fences" kind of hire and succeed, but he's going to be very very careful after the uproar over his football coach hire.

Still, MB has done a great job in hiring coaches. He's picked up Micki DeMoss for Women's B-Ball and John Cohen for Baseball- two excellent hires who have turned each program around.

I've supported Tubby since he was there. I think he's a great coach but for whatever reason, he's not getting the talent that UK can and should be getting.

Good for Tubby, good for Minnesota and potentially good for UK.

I just was lurking on some UK boards and the three names that keep poping up are

1.Billy Donnavan
2.Bill Self
3.Billy Gillispie

srtikes one, two, and three....

I've made my opinion known on Donovan several times on this board, and leave it to say that I don't see why the UK job is better right now than the one he has.

The Kansas job matches Kentucky in every aspect.

The name that makes me a little nervous as a Big Orange fan is still Cal.

We'lll see how good it is for Kentucky when they have to hire Travis Ford or John Pelphrey.
