Tubby Smith leaving UK for Gophers!

One the posters on the UK board swears he has an inside source who tells him UK is going after Billy Gillespie.

Of course there is also another thread calling for Pat Riley

I've made my opinion known on Donovan several times on this board, and leave it to say that I don't see why the UK job is better right now than the one he has.

The Kansas job matches Kentucky in every aspect.

The name that makes me a little nervous as a Big Orange fan is still Cal.

I told you Tubby was gone... And I'll say it again, Cal will not be coaching in Lexington. Period.

I don't think Pat Riley has ever REALLY been back to Lex since his graduation. I think he hires a stunt double for his limited appearances.

We'lll see how good it is for Kentucky when they have to hire Travis Ford or John Pelphrey.

That would be an absolute dream come true for me. I would never run out of material.

Why would Cal not go to Lexington? I hate to say it, but it looks to be an extremely good fit to me.

Could be a distraction the mighty gators don't need!
bill d ain't going no where.......he IS florida bball, why would he leave that and just become part of ky bball? FL has nothing to worry about.
I can't wait to see the look of horror this news puts on the faces of the Memphis supporters down here.
 agree.......

Gillespie or Crean will get the job..
If Gillespie goes to Kentucky, he's about 20% as smart as I think he is. He's a Texan. All of his contacts are in Texas. To leave all that behind to take over a program with the most unrealistic fan base in college sports would be sheer insanity.

Minnesota fans have to be elated with what has happened.

Listening to sports radio in Lex, a caller said that "they feel like Kentucky football fans felt when the Cats hired Bill Curry". I was laughing my a off.

This will turnout much better for Minnesota than Bill Curry's hiring at UK.

Meeks could leave...and I'm sure Morris is gone also...whoever takes over at Kentucky is getting an NIT team next year.

Unless he gets an NBA offer, I doubt Morris would leave. The seniors probably don't want to sit out a year. But, Meeks and the other freshmen wouldn't surprise me if they left.

Cal's successes have come in weak conferences. I wonder how well he would do in a power conference.
