Two Midterm QBs expected to enroll

I have also heard it might be Bo Wallace. But I still think Simms is the guy.

The QB evaluations here are great...Kid has a strong arm, accuracy good footwork and decent size and is pronounced talented when in fact all he has is good physical attributes. A good place to start but that is all. Jeff George had one of the strongest and most accurate arms ever to enter the NFL and was worthless. Montana was NOT near so gifted physically but because of his gray matter went to the hall of fame. Until somebody has some real inside info into the mental makeup, and i mean real data, about these kids the QB evals here are no more than hunches. IMO

For those of you who want the 1*QB from Tennessee named Bo to come to UT, I give you the other 1* QB from Tennessee named Bo who actually came to UT... He quit the team to play Tennis a few years later

Did I say I wanted Bo to come? Read my posts before... I've heard Bo is a possibility, but I still think Matt Simms is the guy.

See, this is what I am talking about. So, your saying that our coaches don't have half a brain?? They don't have the talent to evaluate talent like you and other's on this board do?? That's where you and I differ a lot now. I don't watch film anymore, because it doesn't matter what I think. I can say a kid looks good and all, but I'm not gonna sit here and act like I'm someone from Rivals or Scout when I have no clue about doing it professionally.

He was actually saying that he believes that the 'off field' issues are pushing us away from Newton, not his talent, which I can totally agree with. I think it is ok to have a head case at other positions, but not at QB. Too much goes into preparing mentally and I do not know if Newton has that quality.

So when should we expect to find out who it is? Anyone think Kiffin might surprise people and offer Cam? Let it be known I'm not on either side of the Newton vs Simms debate just an honest question.

You are. Some are convinced he doesn't "fit the system." That's bull crap. Anyone with half a brain can watch his film and see that he fits any offense you want to run. The dude's arm is Vince Young strong. Wherever he goes, this kid gets drafted. Mark my words. 5 star talent on Rivals.

VY isn't considered to have a very strong arm. He has good throwing strength but nothing to wright a book about. Just thought I would throw that wrinkle into the equation.

You never know with Kiffin and company...they could pull in someone off the charts or someone that everyone thought we couldnt get. I think it will be Simms, like alot on this board but maybe the coaches see something we dont. I havent heard anything about Bo Wallace other than Memphis, TN tech and LSU (possibly) wanting him. The post that stated that Simms could be a walk on and then earn a scholly would be smart. Two things are for sure: Bray is going to be the S_it and Thompkins is going to light DB's asses on fire.

Isn't it sad that you have to add this disclaimer or be blasted.

No. Vince Young's arm is very strong. He has always been known for having a strong arm. He can make any NFL throw.

I like the way you think.

I like Cam Newton. Hope well somehow rethink him.

VY have a pretty strong arm, not very accurate.

Sorry but that is simply untrue. He has the arm strength to make almost any NFL throw but isn't considered among the strongest arms in the NFL.

Ok back to the topic. Sorry to hijack.

Hoping Kiffin pulls the trigger on offering Cam Newton. Simms would be a waste, in my opinion, and I don't think Kiffin would want a scholarship tied up in that. I agree with an earlier post saying we shouldn't crowd the QB situation unless we're getting someone that can compete to start (IE Cam Newton). 2011 is a great class for QB's.. no need for Simms to occupy a roster spot.
