'17 TX QB Bailey Zappe (WKU signee)

Wentz is trash
Jimmy G is serviceable
Joe Flacco rode a defense
The Fitz is a journeyman

All are or have previous been starting caliber NFL QBs (and not emergency starter types like Nathan Peterman). TN hasn't produced a true starting caliber QB since Peyton.

And any of them could win a NC with the right pieces around them. Few things are dumber than pretending someone is “trash” because of their NFL career. I’d take Tee Martin, Travis Stephens, and a whole crew of “trash” nfl players any day of the week.

Because you live in fantasy land where guys who simply make it to the NFL can’t suck as players. Colton Jumper made it to the NFL. He sucked.

1. Colton Jumper that was often asked to do more than he was capable of. He was adequate player. He certainly didn't "suck."

2. We're talking about starting caliber QBs here. There isn't 1 single starting caliber NFL QB that sucked in college. Not to mention Carson Wentz was the odds on favorite to win MVP 2017 before tearing his ACL.

And I don't think he can. HE may think so and come here but I don't.

My advice, were I giving advice to the young man, would be to look for a P5 program with a very, very shallow QB room and without a history of "sticking with a QB" when better, younger options seem apparent.

It's the double whammy for him at UT. I doubt his ability to compete AND I doubt Pruitt's willingness to even give him a chance.

TN has a very shallow qb room and no clear cut starter going forward.

1. Jumper had heart no doubt but yes he did most certainly suck.

2. No the whole conversation is not just about starting caliber QBs. The argument is a player can’t suck and make it to the NFL. Which is false. A player can have a great pro day and combine, yet get to the NFL and completely rank. Ergo that player sucked.

What we’re trying to say is in what situation has a CFB player (especially a QB) be a terrible player IN COLLEGE (throws more picks than TDs, can’t make the right reads) and then still get drafted into the NFL?? Especially from the FCS level

1) Jumper put up better numbers at the combine than people thought he would. Also was a smart guy.
But many times i seen him give up ground in the box. He was a better athlete than ...a Nick Reviez who in my opinion had a lot of heart.
I just stereotype him as "that" is where im getting at haha.

2) Youre absolutely right

This young man wants to START.
Do you seriously think he can beat BH or Salter?
He's a grad transfer looking to get a P5 starting job to enhance his NFL resume. Good luck to him but it's unlikely he'd start at UT.
I'm sure plenty of schools are taking a hard look at this guy. Perfect fit for a guy like Leach but could even see bigger schools like us or Florida pursuing. Dude can sling it.

I think some people are skeptical because of the level he plays at and because he's a pure pocket passer. Theres a definite rise in QB talent at the FCS level and NFL scouts seem to recognize this. Trey Lance is a good example. He's expected to go in the first round despite only playing in one subpar game this year. Had a stellar soph season at NDSU, better than what Wentz did his Jr year at NDSU. He's strong, fast and accurate. Gonna be fun to watch at the next level.
