'20 TX QB Haynes King (TAMU Commit)

It all started with a Ga poster pointing out Chaney not going after Bailey at Ga and calling King as soon as he got to UT was sign of him not liking Bailey.
That and the OLB poster, apparently with Bailey ties, saying we'd better be careful going after another QB.
I don't think anyone believes Bailey is scared of competition, more so they're worried he might believe the Chaney stuff.

I think he's fine with it, personally.
And his comment the other day about not telling coaches to quit calling. Also think I remember him saying after Chaney was hired that he was committed as long as things remained the same. He's said just enough to make me concerned with how he's being cautious. Who can blame him after what has went on at GA the last few years?

Just a quick drive by as I've not been on for a while, but I don't want this kid. He may be talented and you never know who will pan out with QBs, but I don't want anything risking our chance with Bailey. Bailey seems to be trending up winning MVP at the 5 star challenge so I'm willing to roll the dice on him until the 2021 class.

I think Harrison isn’t scared of competition and believes in his abilities
If he is going to be a starter in the SEC, he better be. I will say, every QB will say they aren’t afraid of competition, you are never going to read one that says different. Truth is, not many are 100 in that, otherwise you wouldn’t see so many in the portal. If you want to be ‘the man’ then you are going to have to compete, against those in front of you AND those behind you. Recruits don’t think about ‘the next class’.

Tate Martell said all the right things and he didn’t go to the portal, dude jumped right thru it. You have to stack QBs now, will both King and Bailey both be at UT as seniors, nope but you hope the best man wins. IF King does pick UT, Bailey will look at the situation just as if he was already on campus. It’s bidness.

Bailey is really good, too, though. Why would he think he couldn’t beat out King?

I don’t think Bailey is scared of competition but if Pruitt has told him he’s the “main guy” and ends up taking another QB, it might rub him the wrong way.

Just hate to lose a QB of his caliber.

It starts to get silly though. The next big 5* is always on the horizon and injuries frequently change the dynamic. Find a school you like with a coaching staff that can develop you. When it becomes apparent it isn't going to happen there for you, consider a change. Constantly changing, in an attempt to find the place where nothing will change, is a touch illogical and likely will fail.

The only thing in question here is if Bailey believes the coaches think he is the man. He thinks so.

Proximity and this years class, I'd go with A&M. However, if the dad cares at all about values, I'd nudge King here or at least Duke.
I know Jimbo sells Winston, among other things, as "sticking up for his QB" but I just don't think Haynes needs that kind of "back up".
I'd rather my son play for someone that those things aren't issues to begin with. Just believe we don't know half of the stuff that transpired at FSU.

Mentioning Winston should get you escorted out of the house and asked to be put on the no contact list.

good points. @bignewt called it yesterday about him shocking the world and going to duke, and given your comments here, i could see that being the case. i think he values Chaney though too, and probably has more in common with the folks in E. TN and UTK than he does with the folks on campus at Duke.

i think the only way he goes to aTm is just Fisher's overall track record with offenses in general and proxmity, as you said. if it's development for the QB position specifically, it's hard not to look at TN and Duke as having an upper hand.

I guess it all depends on whether you believe that the staff was upfront with HB about their intentions to take 2 QBs. If they were, and he has stayed committed in spite of it, I don’t see where he can suddenly be disappointed if King commits when he always knew it was a probability we’d take a 2nd guy.

I think it would be Tennessee easily if HB were not committed. That doesn't mean he is scared of competition. Just means A&M with their WR commits and other players need a QB. So does he choose the best situation or the coaches he likes at TN and Duke?

If we miss, recalibrate and continue the course. Might be a blessing in disguise because Deion Sanders kid has some serious skills in the 21 class.
if not us, hope he goes to Duke. but either way, it's not the end of the world. 21 class has some really good players as well. and i think we can all agree we're probably in pretty good hands with HB anyway.
