'20 TX QB Haynes King (TAMU Commit)

A&M mod said a rising showing from Bailey could deter King from us. Fuzzin motherfuzzer

That is obvious. He waited for a reason. Sizing up competition and what better way to do it than now before signing. I like being greedy to want both but imo it is best for all parties if he chooses AM. He is their line QB. We have our guy with now worry of will he leave. It likely helps our recruiting take off even more since Baileys has more connections to our main areas for this class and future ones. Also there would be no more question marks helping his pitches to teammates like gilbert and BJ that would know 100 percent he is sticking

The Elite 11 name is just good marketing. Change to "Elite 30" or some crap and people will roll their eyes like a kid releasing a top-30 list.

Bailey has been the same player this entire time and has won like 3 camps. I doubt King all of the sudden said “nope.” If he is saying that just now after watching Bailey, than we have an All-American on our hands that is hands down better than Haynes.

Hopefully he makes the right decision for himself not becaus someone told him to

I’d argue LT
There's nothing to argue. It's a fact that pass rushers have the second highest salaries in the league. Of the top 30 highest salaries, there are 10 guys known for creating pressure on the qb from DT/DE/OLB positions, 2 WRs, 17 Qbs and 1 ILB (C.J. Mosley). The highest paid Left Tackle is Taylor Lewan at 41st. RT Trenton Brown is the highest overall at 32nd. There are only 5 Tackles in the top 75.

There's not a left or right tackle in the top 30 salaries in the league. Only 3 in the top 50. There are a lot of qbs and pass rushers though. A third of the top 30 are guys who are known for pressuring the qb.

yeah, i think the longer this goes on the worse it is.

if everything is equal between the two, TN and aTm, then you'd have to think proxmity and playing time have to be the tie breakers. much easier path to the field at aTm.

the fact that he hasn't gone that way tells me he probably really, really likes our coaches (or someone else's coaches) and may have a reservation or two about aTm's.

otherwise, you'd think this would be a no brainer.

That’s good. But you’d have to experience it to understand. A lot of politics surround it as well. Even More so at the opening. He could be 4th today and look the best but drop to 7th or even out of the 11 by tomorrow morning. This thing is finicky.
I think were all happy with Bailey, I'm much more concerned with what the coaches think than people picking at some camp. Neverless, I don't see him not being top 5, but that is just me. GBO!

If it's not UT, I'd sooner see him pick Duke. Good for Cut, and out of the SEC, if for no other reasons.

It's been said that his parents were letting him make his own decisions. But, it almost sounds like Haynes wants UT, but family/friends are applying that "stay home" type of pressure.
Comes down to " you can't please everyone ".

eh, that's a lot of speculation and i don't believe anyone really knows that to be the case? if true, i can see that being a problem for him, i do agree with that.

Agreed, it's all speculation about the Family/proximity pressure. But, like you said, with all things being equal, what exactly is he torn over?
In fairness, we may spend days speculating between family pressure vs competition etc...and the hold may be something completely different.

Well, all is not equal. Relationships here are clearly balancing things out. We offered first and built a deeper relationship. That is why it is 50/50 according to every person close to the situation.

There is a local Knoxville radio host, about whom people on this board have mixed opinions, who has told the story many times about Lawrence's official visit to UT. Supposedly, Bob Welton, who was Butch's lead off the field recruiting guy, took the family aside and told them on no uncertain terms that TL didn't fit what they were doing on offense, and that he would be well-advised to look elsewhere. TIFWIW

On a related note, in 2009 Lane Kiffin ran off Taj Boyd (who had committed to Fulmer) as well, so Clemson has benefited greatly from Tennessee's lack of foresight on QB's over the last decade.
I can only tell you what was said when his team played Hetitage in Ringgold while both dad and brother were wearing TN shirts lol.

Actually auburn offered first

If relationships are balancing things out, and it is 50/50... isn't that things being equal?

That's exactly what I'm saying. Sorry I should reword it: if proximity was not included, all is not equal. We have better relationships. Imo other things are equal - development, ability to succeed, team talent, etc. Outside of that are 2 other items - proximity and relationships and those 2 balance.

Most people say - all things are equal, but A&M ALSO has proximity. Imo we are dead even INCLUDING proximity. If it was the former, he would have already decided. Kid is truly torn, every single factor included as of right now.

The next pivotal point could be how this weekend/week goes between him and our 3 commits there vs him and A&M's 4 commits.
